Little Norton Mill, hotel in Chiselborough

Little Norton Mill offers self-catering accommodation in 2-bedroom cottages and 1-bedroom apartments set in 7 acres of countryside, only a 10-minute walk to the nearby villages.

The location was very peaceful, beautiful and rural, and extremely quiet. Lovely village and very friendly local people. Some delightful pubs nearby. We had a lovely welcome from the host - and from the resident cat, Ozzie.

Beautiful property, set in very large lovely grounds, with a lake and animals. The host are great. Had a fantastic and peaceful break. Would strongly recommend to everyone who loves the country side. Local pubs with food, lovely walks in the country park, which the property is right next to. Facilities great. Will certainly be going back. WOW!!!!!!

Yes, there are potholes along the track.

Yes, there are potholes along the track. Please realise that the property is accessed via a farm track and not a road. If you can't cope with that thought, please don't book! It is deeply unfair to Eileen to remove points for such a matter utterly beyond her control and not remotely related to the actual stay experience. Eileen is relaxed but attentive host. Nothing is too much trouble (including finding a man to look at my exhaust!) but she is not 'in your face' She seems to understand what her guests need from their stay and help them achieve it. I would add, if communal breakfast is not your thing, probably not the place for you. Ditto dogs and cats (they are all gorgeous and exceptionally well-behaved pets). There is also some occasional 'neighbour noise' from other guests at busy times (doors opening and closing, voices from below, etc.) which is to be expected in what is essentially a large family building. It is minimal and usually mornings, bedtime and probably just me being hyper sensitive. The merits of this establishment lie in the personal, unique, good ol' fashioned service. It is not a place for hectic people, or those that cannot share space. It definitely for those that seek quiet solace, beautiful views, slight breakfast socialising and a track off the beaten road. To end, the house itself is tastefully furnished in a modern country home style, very appropriate to the building, unfussy and very clean. The grounds and gardens themselves are fabulous and a continual source of improvement and growth (literally). Have a wander (with or without a dog if they are willing to show you round), luxuriate in silence and absorb truly green, lush fresh air.

Don’t take a big car , the roads are very narrow and winding and hilly in parts. Walking is best. Endless great walks and views. Montacute is pretty. Sherborne worth a visit. Many things were shut due to covid 19.
