On a road trip through Devon and Cornwall to see gardens and historic homes, we found the grounds and the common rooms of the hotel to be lovely. Keep in mind - those are free to see and do not require an expensive stay. A few glitches during the stay were later written to the hotel management who took the time to respond with apologies for the concerns and used those to help prepare for future guests. I would suggest taking the time to look at the website for room choices and consider booking directly with the hotel where staff can answer questions on costs, accommodations and expectations.

I had driven past this lovely cottage many times over the years whilst holidaying in the area and it’s just so picturesque. The owner was so welcoming and lovely and had plenty of advice about what to do and where to go. Breakfast was a delight, in the conservatory overlooking the river Tavy
