Lots of choice for breakfast and good quality.
Loved the 24 hour communal room with free tea, coffee, and cake .
Staff were always polite and helpful.
On my first day I asked a staff member (sorry I have forgotten her name :( ) for recommendations of local walking routes and she provided me with maps, suggestions, and knowledge to all my questions.
Another staff member was able to supply me with a toothbrush as well.
Great quality food and drinks in the restaurant.
Bus stop right outside was really convenient.
This former coaching inn has a beautiful location less than a minute’s walk from Peveril Castle, which you can climb to enjoy breathtaking views over the Hope Valley.

Beautiful large village in the Peak district, well set up for hikers, climbers, dog walkers and cyclists. Lots of pubs, cafes, take out food options. Large visitor centre with free public loos and plenty of parking. Lots of small independent shops, particularly selling Blue John stone works.
Lovely place to base yourself at - plenty of pubs with muddy boots welcome! Lots of access to local popular Peak District walks.
Great dinner at The Olde Nags Head and a lovely b&b stay at the Bulls Head.

A picturesque little village with stunning views of the surrounding peaks, several caverns available to visit all within walking distance but plentiful parking at each site if wanted.
The village itself has an abundance of tea rooms and 6 pubs all selling a good variety of food so lots of choice for evening meals; special mention to The Castle where we had an exceptional meal.

Peak Cavern - The Devil's Arse was worth a visit, we loved it.
Peveril Castle - The walk was worth doing just for the view.
A very picturesque village.
Lots of pubs and cafes.
We went to a lovely restaurant 1530 that made me a tasty Vegan meal. They also sold Vegan Wine which is another boxed ticked for me.

Lovely little cottage. Be aware of steep steps upstairs.
Lovely little cottage. Be aware of steep steps upstairs. Couldn’t use log burner as log store locked up . There was no property information as is usually in holiday rentals.
The car park where you could use a free parking pass was full so had to pay, which is no fault of the property.

Excellent location to Mam Tor, Winnats Pass and surrounding walks. Village pretty and quaint with a few shops, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs to visit. Visitors center within the village. We stayed at the Castle, nice enough. Also ate there for dinner and food and service was good.
I'd say Castleton is a place you'd stay for 1-2 nights.

We love Castleton.
We love Castleton. It is such a great place for walking, from a short walk along the river to Hope, to 3-4 hour walks to Mam Tor or Loose Hill (this includes returning to Castleton). And there are some cozy fireside pubs right in the centre of the village with good food. We have stayed overnight at 3 pubs (Ye Olde Nags Head, The Castle and The Cheshire Cheese) and its just great. A few gift shops, but no supermarkets .... which means we are not tempted to do the shopping while we are away! To be honest I don't know where the nearest supermarket is. Have fun in Castleton!
I love staying at YHAs in general, but they are all different: Castleton Losehill is special it is a beautiful property perfectly located in the Dark Peak- for me it's a great stopping point halfway between work and home. But more than that the villages around have tons of lovely pubs, shops, and history as well as being in a beautiful part of the world where you can go for walks long or short. YHAs are no frills but for 30 pounds to have your own room, have it be quiet and free wifi- you can't really complain.
Lovely spacious room with comfortable twin beds. Despite there being no air con it was nice and cool. I really enjoyed the powerful shower as well. Unlike other hotels I've stayed in, there was a generous amount of coffee and milk in the room with tasty cookies. The breakfast was also delicious and there's a bar with a pleasant seating area downstairs. The staff are super friendly and smiley. We will definitely go back as the location is great and there's much more to do in Castleton than we expected.
The location of the cottage is spectacular. It is central to everything you want to do in Castleton. There's a view of the castle from the single bedroom - a bonus we hadn't expected. The cottage is extremely clean and cozy. The parking lot is conveniently located across the street. Everything we needed - from dishes to laundry tabs - was already in the cottage. Instructions and recommendations supplied by the owners were very thorough and appreciated.
The room was very clean and tidy, had good facilities. Was so much nicer than expected. Has its own little “terrace” for residents instead of going all the way downstairs and outside. Location is brilliant, in the centre of Castleton with all the shops and tourism. When checking in the staff were really welcoming. Breakfast isn’t ridiculously early like other hotels, which is what we liked. Got complimentary drinks in the room free of charge.
The location of Swiss House B&B is excellent, close to the main bus station, pubs and tearooms and in the centre of Castleton.
The room was lovely, a king size bed; plenty of tea, coffee etc; very clean and nice decor.
Matt the host was very welcoming and helpful as was his staff too. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice.
Thank you for a lovely stay, would highly recommend.
This is a lovely hotel, the bar manager was very good professional and helpful. Booked us a table in restarant. Meal excellent. Friendly staff willing to chat to us even though very busy.. Bedroom excellent comfy four poster bed and bedroom amazing. Right in the middle of castleton and hotel has their own car park.
The property was modern, extremely clean and was in a great location to Castleton. The size of the room was really spacious and the views of the mountains were fantastic. We really loved our stay at Cheshire Mews and would definitely book to go there again.
The hotel was comfortable and cleaned to a decent standard. The checking in and out process was simple. The absolute highlight of this hotel is definitely it’s location, right in the heart of Castleton at the bottom of the castle hill - it was beautiful.
Location in Castleton village was excellent with plenty of free on-site parking. The room and all the furniture was spotless and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was very good, with an excellent shower for pressure and temperature.
Lovely clean room added bonus of fresh milk, orange juice, and tea/coffee facilities was a nice touch too. Great location right in the heart of Castleton.
Easy access to local walks, cafes, restaurants, and pubs.
Beautiful area. Fell walking dream. Also general walks. Great accommodation, great staff, good, hotel, the local people are also very friendly. Coming from Blackpool we weren't used to that 😂
Stayed here a few times now. In centre of Castleton. Twin bed room tops floor very comfy beds. Breakfast excellent the lady serving breakfast is lovely.
