Room was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The location was good: near the centre, ideal if you are doing Hadrian's Wall path walk, near a supermarket.
Ideally situated in the historic capital of Cumbria, the ibis Carlisle is just 200 metres from Carlisle Citadel Railway Station.

The reception and bar area were nice and the staff were friendly. Good sized free carpark at the rear of the hotel. We didn't have breakfast but it looked good.

A hotel I've been to many times and it's always a pleasure. A bonus to have the use of a swimming pool and fitness centre.
There was a wedding on while we were there but the hotel staff were very careful to warn customers in advance to say that they would keep non-wedding guests in rooms away from the festivities. The room was certainly very quiet.

Dalston village is beautiful, but Carlisle Town, what we saw of it was uninspiring and unattractive.
Lots of road works , confusing road systems and busy. Not a bit like the other lake district towns.
Perhaps we hadn't seen the best of it to be fair.

Quite an underrated town.
Quite an underrated town. The castle and cathedral are very interesting, plenty of history to see. I like it most because you can quite easily travel to fantastic locations from all directions; Hadrian's wall & Newcastle to the East, Ribblehead & the Lake district to the South, the scenic Cumbrian coast to the West & the Historic Southern lowlands of Scotland to the North!

Convenience as a base to visit more of Cumbria.
Convenience as a base to visit more of Cumbria. If like me you don't drive its good to have a base with plenty of public transport to enable you to see a variety of places. Carlisle itself is easy to walk round, everything within walking distance.

I love Carlisle!
I love Carlisle!
It’s a great town with good shopping, history and nightlife
The bars and restaurants are wonderful and it’s very friendly
There is plenty of parking, it’s compact and interesting
My favourites are The Thin White Duke for drinks/food and Bocata bar for live music, atmosphere and great drinks
Beautifully furnished lounge areas, all spotlessly clean. Excellent choice of menu (4 vegetarian options!) in the bar on Sunday night with great service from Henry. The pool is the best we have found in any hotel, wonderful to have a swim before dinner and also after breakfast next morning. Great breakfast buffet and cooked breakfast choices too, impeccable service from Beppe in the lovely conservatory room. Hotel is one minute from Wetheral station with a ten minute journey hourly to the centre of Carlisle.
Everything was lovely. By arrangement I arrived quite late after a 350 mile drive. I was meet in the car park, (but don't expect this), and given a quick tour of key the points for the morning and then shown to my room. Room was great, breakfast was perfect and the team were all very welcoming. For work, I have traveled widely around the world, but this was on my $ for a very short stop in Cumbria and the quality beats many hotels that I have stayed in. Thank you.
The restaurant was exceptional. We chose to dine there both nights we stayed at the property, no need to look elsewhere. The staff were professional and friendly. While the grounds are under a complete renovation, we understand the value of temporary inconvenience, longterm improvement, and hope to see the results when we return.
If you're a golfer, the Carlisle Golf Club is minutes away. Do your self a favor and book a tee time. A real gem
Check in was easy, and we were given a quiet room at the back of the hotel when we asked.
The room was a decent size. All the bedding and towels were clean and the bed was comfortable.
Good location on a main road heading into Carlisle.
The breakfast was fine.
You get what you pay for…this is a budget priced hotel, so there were some problems or faults as well.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were great, friendly and helpful. We loved that there is a bar and restaurant on premises.
We were walking Hadrian's Wall and this guest house is further from the path than we realized (totally our fault) but close to the bus into Carlisle.
Would definitely recommend and will stay again if we're in Carlisle.
Stayed before, very friendly staff & friendly locals - I look forward to trips to Carlisle just so I can stay here! If carlsberg made a hotel for me or and contractor it would look like this, functional accommodation, a bar, a pool table, friendly locals who love karaoke and dominoes opposite - the roadhouse has it all.
Easy to find. Great free parking. Near to the centre of Carlisle. Rooms basic but comfortable and warm. Beds very comfortable. Good big screen tv. The full English breakfast was great if too much. Toast tea available etc.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Very good value for the money.
The staff and breakfast were absolutely lovely. Fantastic very pet friendly hotel at no extra cost.
Monty my 12 year old cat and I will definately be back.
Also literally 2 mins walk from train station as well as Carlisle centre.
This was a lovely hotel based in the center of Carlisle, a few steps from the train station and close to all amenities pubs bars restaurants, and old fire station for bands ect.
Would highly recommend
Staff were super, facilities exceptional and both food and drink very good. Have been searching for a quality Hotel close to Carlisle for a while, pleased to say we have found somewhere.
clean , good location 5 minutes from train station. lots to do in Carlisle and the surrounding areas. lakes , cannot believe the hotel rates on my booking is only 7.7 should be higher.
Lovely new hotel, very stylish with attentive, pleasant staff. Beautiful room with 2 windows looking out onto rolling fields. The bathroom was a joy and the bed was very comfortable
The room was not dirty.
The location was convenient to getting to Carlisle centre and there was a large car park which could be used free of charge when staying at the hotel.
Well-appointed room in central Carlisle hotel. Welcoming staff. Great location for LandsEnd-John O'Groats cycling. Cycle friendly, with bikes stored in lobby. Good breakfast.
