Highermead House is owned by a young couple, Kasey and Jon and they went out of their way from start to finish to make my stay as pleasant as possible. On a cycling trip and having started really early to try to outrun bad weather, I arrived cold and wet at 10.00am! Although my room wasn't ready then, Kasey messaged me an hour later, after I'd gone into town to find a warming coffee, to say that I could check in. So, by midday, I was showered and changed and settled in my room. That was very much appreciated. My room, which seemed newly fitted out was very comfortable and had a mini kitchen with microwave, which is ideal if you don't want to go out to eat (although the Masons Arms in town does lovely food). The property is undergoing major refurbishments so anyone booking in this summer should expect some upheavals, although the couple do as much as they can to minimise this. They were not able to offer a cooked breakfast when I visited but the continental breakfast delivered to my room was excellent and great value. In summary, whatever this place lacks in finished services, it makes up for it in the enthusiasm, attention to detail, and friendliness of the owners.

The welcome from Lesley and Paul - incredibly friendly, informative and they couldn’t do enough for you. The stories they had to tell were fascinating. The rooms were lovely and the breakfast was superb. Would definitely love to go back and stay here again. Thinking of looking at renting the mobile home which they have in their large garden next year.

I cannot fault a single thing about this stay. Everything was spotless and smelt lovely too. Check in and check out was very easy with the lovely hosts and the location was easy to find. The hut was very private, comfortable, warm, spacious and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. You are able to comfortably cook a meal with the hob and airfyer. There was a lovely view of the garden and you can spot some of the wildlife wandering through. I was kindly shown around to meet the cats and horse. The location was great and close by to some of Cornwall's beautiful sites. The local village has a supermarket and lovely fish and chip shop. I cannot wait to return. I think the hut was great value for money as a solo traveller and I preferred it in comparison to hotels etc. Thank you so much x

Camelford was a nice place and there was a lovely walk in the park along by a river and it was near to the places we wanted to go to which were Tintagel, Port Issac and Bos castle and we had some very nice meals out as well. I would definitely stay there again as it was so relaxing.

Went with my 2 children , age 6 and 10 and my partner.
Hosts were lovely. Grounds were too and the children loved the horses.
The property was located centrally which was good.
The cottage was cozy and clean.
The children’s beds were fine , but the adults double bed was standard.
My partner is 6ft 2, I am 5ft 7.
We couldn’t turn over without waking up .
We had sore backs and no sleep for 2 nights so we decided to leave and checked out at tea time on the 3rd day after the second night.
We told the host and also asked for a partial refund because we didn’t stay the 4 nights as paid.
The host wouldn’t partial refund although being honest and open about the bed, tiredness annd back pain and also with having to cut the holiday short by 2 nights.
We had a 5 hours drive to as well.
I’ve been honest and that’s my experience.
Book if you are ok with a standard double bed for 2 adults.
Apart from the bed , it was nice.

Most of our time was spent outside of Camelford.
Most of our time was spent outside of Camelford. We started with Tintagel and in other days went to Boscastle and to Bude. We did walk around Camelford. There is a very nice yarn store which sells knitting needles and other re-usable supplies in addition to yarn.
With regard to 6. below, I can't say anything about golf as none of our party plays it.

Mayrose Cottage is a perfect retreat hidden away in a peaceful spot in the North Cornwall countryside, yet within easy reach of the coast. Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Isaac, Rock & Padstow are all within easy reach. Trebarwith Strand is a lovely golden dog friendly beach. And a great spot for watching sunsets too.

The house is set in a beautiful location giving you easy access to Cornwall's amazing locations but you do need a car as the amenities are not very close. It served us well as a base to travel to many of the popular locations around Cornwall.

A small Cornish village, in a good location to explore Cornwall in general, with lots of character and several good inexpensive places to eat.
Camelford is located in a basin and therefore is a bit hilly.
The cottage is fully equipped and super clean. Kitchen is pretty new and modern with stove, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and plenty cookware and cutleries. We didn’t use the washing machine, but there is one available. Two toilets in the cottage, one upstairs with shower and one downstair which is very handy. Sofa is very comfortable. Beds are not too soft, so we sleep really well. Will come back again next time we visit north Cornwall.
The staff were amazingly helpfuly and friendly. We booked evening meal and breakfast and both were excellent. The evening meal in particular was well priced, huge portions, freshly cooked and really good quality.
We had a great view from our room over the golf course and fields and it was quiet overnight. We weren't golfing, just using the hotel as a stopover but the location was fantastic for what we wanted - tintagel, camelford.
If you love little houses then this is for you, with a nice view and conveniently located for driving around Cornwall and checking different places out.
It was cute and clean, all worked well and we really enjoyed the stay, nice view into the fields.
Easy to drive to and it was great for us as a base to explore Cornwall.
Much much better than the average hotels you find in Cornwall for three times the price.
Comfortable bed, abundance of hot water, nice towels, a kettle in my room and windows I could open for fresh air. I was in 127 and the view was to the back of the hotel storage - not a good view - the view on the other side of the hall was lovely - beautiful golf course and rolling green hills. Actually I think my room should have been discounted.
Everyone were so friendly especially the house keeping (Top Marks for the ladies) and the Bar staff.
Breakfast was perfect, Typical English thank god !! , The Golf course is really good.
Perfect Hotel for a Golf Tour of Cornwall.

Short walk into Camelford and the local pub serving good pub grub.
Various takeaways within easy walking distance as was the local Spar.
For less able guests please be aware the walk into town is down and up a fairly steep hill.
Great hotel , clean, comfortable and ideal location. Great breakfast provided, ample parking for guests. The owners are excellent, very helpful and really look after you. Would definitely recommend, and we will definitely return.
Camelford is a delightful little town with very easy access to Tintagel by bus. the room was nice and comfy with a good hot shower. The terrace was so pleasant and the host were so kind, was a perfect place for our stay.
