I attended a middle distance triathlon and the friendly staff ensured I was as comfortable as possible. They were fully flexible, understandable and the room was sparkling clean with a super beautiful bathroom.
The bar and restaurant deliver nutritious and delicious food with plenty of options as well. It's a shame I went for one night only because I would love to stay for at least 3 nights more my staying in a super comfortable hotel.
In the Cambridgeshire village of Buckden, this Inn dates back to 1492 and is full of original features. The bar and restaurant have open fires, wooden beams and seasonal food.

Staff were absolutely exceptional and really went the extra mile to make sure our needs were met. Decor was lovely and blended the historic elements with modern comforts very well. Meals (dinner and breakfast) were lovely.
Boasting excellent transport links, this contemporary-style 4-star hotel is set on the outskirts of Huntingdon, just minutes away from the A14, linking to the M11 southbound and the A1(M) north.

Breakfast was nice but the scrambled egg portion was about a tablespoon full. The grilled tomatoes did not look cooked just warmed. Apart from that it was nice.

Buckden Tower/Palace is a Claretian centre for missionaries...
Buckden Tower/Palace is a Claretian centre for missionaries and anybody is allowed to wander the grounds to look at the Tower where Catherine of Aragon was once held. The palace was used by the Bishops of Lincoln to rest between journeys from London to Lincoln and other notable visitors such as James I, Henry VIII, Catherine Howard and Samuel Pepys amongst others. There is also a garden dedicated to Catherine but sadly the gate was locked on both occasions I went to view it. I think a tour of the tower is possible if arranged beforehand. There is also a longer walk around the grounds if you have the time. Grafton Water is not far away and so is Cambridge but not much else in the village to see.
We arrived on Sunday afternoon and were expected. Lovely log fire in the bar area and it looked warm and welcoming. We were given key for our room and were told breakfast was served between 8 and 10 am next morning. We had come to Buckden as we have family living close by. I asked if would we be able to get back in later and would the door be open. We were told the key for the front door was on our room keys. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable.
Easy to access from the A1, the George Hotel was a charming hotel. The staff were extremely polite, professional and attentive. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I had a meal in the bar, the food was cooked fresh and offered great value for money. The choice of breakfast was very good and the cooked breakfast was super, again cooked to order.
Very historic old (1492!) coaching inn in the middle of the pleasant village of Buckden. Next door to history-rich Buckden Tower. Pub area is quaint and it's nice to mingle with locals. Easy parking both in hotel lot and on street outside. Affordable rates. Owners were very welcoming and friendly.
We love The Lion Hotel, full of history and atmosphere. Could do with a bit of tlc but you have to remember that it dates back to the 1400, so it’s not easy to keep up with that and update at the same time. Would take a lot of time and money to do the job properly.
The hotel is perfect to break a long journey, close to the motorway but tranquil location so good night's sleep. Its is a dog friendly hotel, which was perfect for us. Food at the restaurant was good. Friendly staff.
My bed was amazing and having Netflix on the TV was an a wonderful touch after a long days work, a film in bed was ideal.
The following night I stayed at another place nearby, it wasn't a patch on your hotel !
Really friendly staff on arrival. Excellent location for the event we had on at Buckden Towers. The dining room / pub bit was lovely and cosy.
Room was super-clean.
