Britain’s 4th most popular visitor destination, Bristol boasts Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the River Avon. More Brunel handiwork is in the harbour where his SS Great Britain steamship is moored. Pirate walks here detail the city’s underground naval history.
Further north in Clifton is the world’s oldest zoo outside a capital city. Other Bristol attractions include At-Bristol Museum and the Grade I-listed Corn Exchange with its 4 "nails" outside where money changed hands. Also worth a visit is St Nicholas Market, in a Georgian square home to several bars and a Slow Food Market on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other Bristol shopping options include shopping centres at Cabot Circus, and Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts.
As a student city, Bristol really comes to life after dark. The live music scene here is fantastic and has given way to several internationally known bands, but for something more alternative head to Eastside.
Another option for alternative-seekers is the work of hometown street artists Banksy. Just like Booking.com’s Bristol accommodation, his work is spread throughout this fabulous city.
This Gateway to the West Country is served by Bristol Airport and Temple Meads train station. The old Bristol to Bath railway line is now a cycle route and makes a great day trip.

We visited the SS Great Britain and did a riverside/wooded walk to the Clifton Suspension Bridge both were great. The observatory and cave at the Clifton bridge were a bit disappointing but we also enjoyed the Cathedral. The various brew/tap houses around the city are definitely worth visiting, the beers, food, service and atmosphere were very good in all the ones we went to.

Nice to revisit our home City.
Nice to revisit our home City. Lots of variety and things to see. However, Bristol is a sprawling City, so bring your walking shoes as public transport is patchy and taxis are like gold dust. Favourite places are The Docks, Clifton, Park Street, Bristol Museum, The Downs and you simply have to bungee jump off the suspension bridge!

Travelling around the city by boat (there are water bus services) is definitely a good idea since Bristol is focused so much on the harbour. This is the best way to see a lot quickly, but walking around is quite easy too. Exploring around Prince's Wharf should be an early stop for anyone - especially M Shed, which tells the story of the city in a vibrant, easy to understand way. I especially liked the detail about all Bristol's different neighbourhoods and suburbs. There are good independent shops selling books and vintage clothes near Cabot's Circus, but the shopping centre there is pleasant to walk around too. Along with this, there are a good selection of restaurants inside which stay open into the evening - handy for travellers. For culture the Bristol Old Vic theatre has some great shows!

Bristol is a big city did not have to much time to see a lot...
Bristol is a big city did not have to much time to see a lot but travelled around by cabs and buses, got use to a bit of the way things were,We found that meals out were a tad expensive, cheaper eating in self catering mostly,There are lots of historic places to see, people were mostly pleasant. we also travelled out to Emerson Green as our daughter was staying that way, quite a journey by bus.Its worth going there to Bristol if you have car stay outside of town if you are travelling without a car staying just few miles out so you can travel by train, from Bristol Temple Mead.We got a number 8 bus to train station and opposite direction to Clifton Bridge.
The location of the hotel was excellent, we arrived into Bristol by train, and the hotel was only a few minutes walk away. As the lift was not working we were given vouchers for a drink from the hotel bar. The breakfast was extremely good. The hotel is situated only a short walk from the main city centre which was also a bonus. The staff very friendly and helpful. The price we paid was very good value 👍.
I have stayed at the Arnos Manor Hotel on many occasions now. It provides me with spotlessly clean accommodation close to my work in Bristol. It’s ideally located for work and Bristol city centre with free parking available. Every room I have stayed in has been spotlessly clean. They also provide little extras such as iron, ironing board and hair dryers in all rooms. Not all hotels provide these.
I know Bristol well and I picked this hotel because it was central and well priced. I didn’t intend to use the facilities or the car park.
It was clean, it was well located (close to the city centre and close to Bristol Temple Meads).
The breakfast was generous and tasty.
Stunning hotel. Lovely, friendly staff, beautiful big, stylish bedroom with absolutely stunning bathroom. Breakfast was superb. Close to the city centre, 5 minutes to the Watershed. Will definitely now only stay here on our trips to Bristol.
