Lots to do in this traditional Dorset country town.

Lots to do in this traditional Dorset country town. The town and surrounding villages have something for everyone's tastes. Recommend Bridport Arms, West Bay, Anchor, Seatown and Ilchester Arms in Symondsbury for food and drink. Can't go wrong with Palmers Brewery pubs whose standards are very high and beer excellently kept. Take some home from the Brewery Shop, well worth a visit. Beaches are all good but busy. Hive Beach in Burton Bradstock is free parking to National Trust members. Symondsbry Estate a must with good shopping outlets and cafe. Town has good supermarkets and out of town all Farm shops worth visiting. Good walking throughout but for the less energetic, West Bay quay is a short stroll after dinner. For gardeners Abbotsbury a must

This is a lovely little town that we hadn't visited before and it was quite a discovery - many interesting shops, a street market, museum and church all worth visiting, plus a huge number of fascinating old buildings. The coast and lovely countryside are close by too.

Bridport itself is ok but a bit tired

Bridport itself is ok but a bit tired The hotel was in a village called Eypes along the coast and that was a super quiet location. Misnoma to describe it as Bridport--thats just the postal address I'm guessing It is the area that is good for what we wanted---cliff and other walks plus good quality supporting facilities without over-crowding or over-development

Bridport is a pretty market town close to the coast.

Bridport is a pretty market town close to the coast. We stayed at the Greyhound, a Wetherspoons hotel, so you know what to expect from the bar and food. There are buses to local resorts, and car parks just off the high street. It can get very busy at the seaside car parks (such as Hive beach) , so get to them early to get a parking place. There's a

the hotel was in a quiet location 5 mins from the beach and 5 mins to the pub. With only 18 rooms it was not crowded and service was first class. Our stay coincided with very warm weather so sleeping was a problem but we were given a small fan which helped to overcome the intense temperature. Somewhat unusual for the time of year. We explored all the nearby coves which all have good parking and toilet facilities. Word of advice do not go to Seaton a sad reflection on what I remember from the 60's Dorset was very clean and the roads are all good. The only one that needs some widening is the one down to the hotel. Hopefully next time we come down this way it will have some extra passing bays.

The location was ideal on a quiet street only a 5 minute walk to the main high street in Bridport. The room was so comfortable, had a well equipped kitchenette and a lovely private bathroom. My host had left a very generous amount of breakfast goodies aswell as a little bottle of wine and some chocolates, she really knows how to make people feel welcome and comfortable, would highly recommend.

We liked that it was near the coast, so very easy for walking and hiking. We also liked that it wasn't too far away from Bridport and West Bay where we could get some good eats and see the local town and shops.
