Known for its sandy beaches and good nightlife, Bournemouth is a popular seaside resort on the Dorset coast between Poole and Christchurch.
The town is centred on the Bourne River, running downhill towards the sea by Bournemouth Pier. This pier looks back towards a promenade lined with beach huts at the foot of grassy cliffs. The promenade continues west to Poole, while a road goes east to neighbouring Boscombe, where anglers often fish from its pier. Overlooking it is a clifftop road housing some Bournemouth hotels with sea views.
Booking.com also offers hotels near the BIC – Bournemouth International Centre in the West Cliff area. This convention centre and music venue is a short walk from the Art Deco Pavilion Theatre, located next to the Lower Gardens. In this popular city park is the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered hot air balloon that offers far-reaching views.
At the park’s top end the river disappears under a large square, then emerges in the Central Gardens. Overlooking these gardens is the Victorian town hall, which used to be one of several spa hotels in Bournemouth. Opposite is a Grade I-listed church, and St Peter’s Church has the grave of Mary Shelley, author of ‘Frankenstein’.
On the outskirts of town, near 4 golf courses and the Castlepoint Shopping Centre, is Bournemouth Airport.

Excellent sandy beaches & a very scenic coastline.
Excellent sandy beaches & a very scenic coastline. Free public toilets are plentiful & lots of eateries.
Unfortunately there's also plenty of drunks & some anti social behaviour & a complete lack of police presence it seems.

I arrived in Bournemouth via its Airport, Taxi to Southbourne, £30. After 2 nights at a fabulous award winning b n b , I moved on to a long established Hotel near Alum Chine. No car, no problem, I used the very inexpensive 70 buses a lot!. Some buses were open top, I visited Hengistbury Head, Christchurch and Poole. a day ticket cost £5.20, a single journey £2. Possibly this route finishes in September at the end of the season though. Via this bus I enjoyed a walk though the shopping area in Poole, en route to the Quays area, where the one hour Harbour cruise was just right. The perfect weather was a bonus!. Walking along the various beach "chines" was easy and flat walking, Pay attention to those on bikes and scooters, which are not allowed in high summer. The sandy beaches were a delight, the sea refreshing!. For those who like more "action" a stay in Bournemouth itself would be interesting, for me, locations as above were just right.

We stayed at Boscombe and we were so relieved we did, sadly Bournemouth Town centre looks neglected with shop closures, sadly homeless people begging very disappointed from our last visit, Bournemouth Town itself needs financial support but it’s a sign of the times! Boscombe and Bournemouth Beaches and pier clean all positive

Very clean. Beautiful public garden areas.
Very clean. Beautiful public garden areas. Lovely soft sandy beaches. Lots of restaurants, cafes and bars. Usual selection of gift shops and seafront attractions including Arcades, Mini/Adventure golf and the Observation Wheel.
The BIC is an excellent events venue.
We had a great stay at The Hedley Townhouse. The hotel is spotless, nicely decorated and the rooms are nice and comfortable. The owners are super friendly and caring for their guests. They put breakfast items in the tea room in the morning, which was very nice before starting the day exploring the area. The location is perfect, just a few steps from the beach in a quiet area with dining options around. It was a great experience all around and we would stay there again if coming back to Bournemouth!
Sue, the proprietor was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I needed Oat Milk and it was supplied.
The breakfast was the best we have ever had. The choice was Continental, Full English or both, top quality.
Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean, with ensuite facilities.
There was off road parking available.
The hotel is just a 5 min walk from the beach and town, also just 45 min walk along seafront to Bournemouth.
We will definitely be coming back...
The staff are excellent, helpful, professional, smart and well presented. Facilities on site are superior to many other hotels in Bournemouth in this price range and even a few in a much higher price bracket can't match it. It may not be the very best that Bournemouth has to offer but nethertheless a good all rounder that punches above its weight in many areas.
The Hotel is sited in one of the best locations for Bournemouth. It's just a short walk to the beach (and away from the crowded parts); as well as this it's not too far to walk to the town centre. The En-suite room was good, and the staff friendly. As well as this it's good value for money!
The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the hotel was just what we were looking for. It is in an excellent location near to the beach and perfect for a short walk to the BIC for a show. Dinner and breakfast were spot on. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Bournemouth.
