The Balcary is a beautiful house in Hawick, Scotland, with such a wonderful history. It dates back to the 1880s. It was also a home for children during WWII. It has such beautiful details throughout. The room we stayed in was huge and had a beautiful large bathroom. The staff were wonderful. They made sure if I needed anything while I was sick to let them know. I would suggest a stay, but beware of hearing things that may not be there, such as the Ghosts/Spirits that also reside here. I would love to stay here again the next time I make a trip to Hawick.
Set within 15 acres of rural woodland and gardens, this guest house is 1.5 miles from the center of Jedburgh. Hundalee House has free WiFi and eggs from resident hens are served in the mornings.

This is a quiet, well kept and tidy village, set in rolling hills. There is clearly an excellent community spirit here with a mixture of Scottish Borders and Northumbrian accents. The warmth of the locals was evident in the hotel bar. There are just a handful of houses and no local convenience store. Some snacks and drinks were available to take away from the hotel bar which was the only one in the village. It’s a great base for walking in nearby Kielder Forest.

Bonchester Bridge is a quiet little village.
Bonchester Bridge is a quiet little village. Nothing much here as regards intense activity. Unless you like peace and quiet ,walking or cycling that is then its perfect.
The Horse & Hound is an excellent place to stay. Great restaurant and a well stocked bar.
Hawick (which I visited) has the late greats Jimmie Guthrie & Steve Hislop exhibits and memorabilia there at the museum. Also near by is Kielder Forest & Peebles.
