FAQs about hotels in Blackpool

Beside the Seaside, Beside the Sea

A favoured holiday spot since the Victorian era, Blackpool is a traditional English seaside town. Amusement arcades and crazy golf courses line the promenade and dotted between them are plenty of places to pick up fresh fish ‘n’ chips and Blackpool rock.

On the 5-mile sandy beach, children can enjoy Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides. Old-fashioned entertainment at its best. At the other end of the scale is the Blackpool Pleasure Beach, a fairground complex comprising a variety of rides, including The Big One - once the world’s tallest and steepest rollercoaster. They actually had to get permission from nearby Blackpool Airport to erect it!

More seaside pursuits are on the town’s 3 piers, one of which is Grade II listed. However, the most recognisable landmark is the Blackpool Tower which houses a circus, 4D cinema and a world-renowned ballroom, to name a few. Modelled on the Eiffel Tower, it is spectacularly lit during the annual Blackpool Illuminations, when the whole town is bathed in bright lights. The trams plying the prom are also lit. Look out for the one shaped like a ship.

A popular stag and hen do destination, Blackpool offers accommodation ranging from North Shore hotels to South Shore B&Bs - see Booking.com for the best choice.

Great range of attractions and activities for families.

Great range of attractions and activities for families. Everything we wanted was along a ten minute tram line from our hotel (Big Blue - fantastic for families) apart from the zoo which was easy enough with a bus from the opposite the tower. Plenty of family daytime (from 10 or 11am for most places) activities evening entertainment with the arcades. Essential places with our kids are the Pleasure Beach (we always end up going twice they love it that much), the Zoo, Sea-Life, Coral Island. Great places with two young kids were Big Blue hotel, Gruffalo, Backlot cinema Imax, the big wheel on central pier. Places we went on previous trips but gave a miss this time were Madame Tussaud's (kids only know the Marvel characters and the Queen so not worth the price for us), the tower (good the first time but not worth the price for a second trip), the circus (great but a bit long for younger ones), other arcades (better value to stick to one), Sandcastles Water Park (great if your kids love water play but ours aren't too fussed and aren't big enough for most of the slides so not worth the price for us), the illuminations (oldest was amazed on first visit when he was 3 but we've gone for earlier in the year since). My tips would be, choose a hotel on the prom / tram line and get a travel pass (Big Blue really is fantastic for kids and great value when we booked a few months early) and it's like being in a resort for ease of getting to everywhere, use clubcard points for attractions such as the Pleasure Beach and Zoo, look at the multi attraction passes if wanting more than one, stick to one arcade for games that give out tokens to get the better prizes (we like Coral Island), don't buy game tokens for the Pleasure Beach!

Like most seaside towns it is suffering a bit from the drop in tourism for travel abroad, however it is clear that money is being invested and improvements made. Stanley Park is beautiful and well worth a visit. If you pre book the Pleasure beach there are good savings on offer. The Velvet Coaster Wetherspoons is one of the best I've visited. The shows at Viva Blackpool are good value and a great fun evening out. It's like most places, if you plan ahead you can have a great time, don't believe all the bad press!!

Blackpool is a great place. Lots to do. Plenty of walks. The Tower is a great place to visit. Had fun in the arcades. Sealife Centre and the Circus are great places to visits. We ate in Coral Island Family Bar and Restaurant and The Wild West Restaurant was lovely. Had traditional fish and chips as well. There are lots of lovely cafes along the front and the town centre. Plenty of transport to go up and down the front.

Natinally, some people do not rate Blackpool as a first...

Natinally, some people do not rate Blackpool as a first choice, on my Table iin Coventry. no one wated to go there. Since i had never been, i decided to go, the price was good, hotel was fine, and transport by train, was cheap as well. I just want to see the sea, beach, sunset, and the Sky, which you cannot see in a City because it is all brick, you have to look up, In Blackpool, you can look in front of you. It has three piers, seaworld, the tower, pleasure beach, Madam Tussouds, the walk with famous names, very impressive. The circus, and theatre. You can go the Cleverles, St Annes, and Lytham, also Preston. and see other beaches, it is all work all this, so you had better be up for it. A lot to do, if you want it. People were helpful, and friendly. You meet people from all over the Country, so that is nice, instead of dealing with the same old, same old stuff. Some people do mention it is rundown a bit, and needs more work on front where the hotels are, and the Town Center, it seemed fine, for me, coffee shops, bookshops, all that you need, so i thought, it was good, because it was different. 20 million, people come here every year, so it does the job, and would come back for sure in the future, i wanted the Beach, i got it.

The bed was good and comfortable The hotel was in a good location for me as I have set places I visit when in Blackpool. I also like to walk. Did not use the breakfast facilities as I do not eat alot in a morning and like to chose what I want the day I awake up. Downstairs at the hotel they have a grea bar which sells real ales and has music and seating which w\as very nice. Dont drink beer myself but thought it a good idea to add to the good idea of that bar.

Second time I’ve stayed in this hotel, absolutely amazing and friendly staff. Bar is pretty decent priced too also. Location is okay, if your staying south shore but if wanting north it’s about 10-15 walk to tower. Basic small rooms,( twin) but that’s all I wanted as literally just went to hotel to sleep as was always out. Very very good for groups, or if you wanting a piss up in Blackpool
