The reception was good and handled quickly and efficiently. The hotel is under renovation and I was warned about that, but proceeded as I only needed a room for the night and no services.
In the beautiful and peaceful village of Hatfield Heath, just 10 km from Stansted Airport, this family-run hotel has its own leisure centre with a heated indoor pool.

This property was excellent in all aspects but the cleanliness was outstanding and the breakfast was superb. The owners also accommodated our request for an early check in which was very helpful.

Everything. As a petrol head the PitStop is my dream B&B. It is in an actual Morgan dealership. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the bathroom was large with a wet room style shower. The american diner/breakfast room is a work of art with lots of Morgan memorabilia on the walls and even the windows are from the original Morgan factory. The attention to detail is fantastic. Melvyn, Sindy and their family are very welcoming and great hosts. There are lots of pubs and restaurants in the local area for evening meals. We shall be returning soon in our classic car to attend a near by show.

This charming, quiet town has lovely canal walks and a large public park next to the town centre. The high street has good eateries and nice little shops. Don't miss the Coffee House Cafe, with it's great sandwiches and all-day cooked breakfast!
If you want to explore further the helpful staff in the central tourist office will suggest various self guided historic walks.
It is a perfect spot to overnight only a 15 minute drive from Stansted airport (and is NOT on the flight path, so no noise of passing planes), and easily reached by public bus #510 (or #509) which runs a regular service to and from the town even at night.

Bishops Stortford is a lovely old town which is relatively compact so it is easy to walk around the town centre. There is a good range of shops and quaint tea rooms and excellent restaurants. There’s a river and the station is close to the town centre. It can be a bit noisy especially on Saturday evenings.

Bishop's Stortford is a very picturesque town with friendly people who seem disposed to being welcoming and helpful to travellers. We were only passing through on our way from Stansted Airport to London, nevertheless, we enjoyed visiting the town and would have liked to have stayed a little longer to explore it a bit more

I had limited time to explore the town but I enjoyed walking around on Saturday and noting the mixture of the old historic architecture and the new building. There were plenty of options to eat or stop for a drink.

Lovely little town.
Lovely little town. We was just staying overnight for the Standon Calling Festival and it’s perfect location for anyone going to this. Just about 20 minutes in a taxi from the site. Lots of pubs and nice coffee shops for breakfast the next day. Nice quaint little town with plenty to do.

Stayed here to visit my brother in the area. It's an absolutely beautiful hotel . Very quirky, I loved all the pictures and quotes all around the hotel . We stayed in room 21 ground floor which was a really good size room with such an amazing, big, comfy bed . We visited the bar and met the owner Brandon he was very friendly and did make us laugh with his jokes
The pub does have entertainment on most nights, which is good and specialises in weddings
Overall, I would definitely come back again
Thank you for having us x
We requested a large room, the room we got was one of the smallest rooms I have ever stayed in. Barely enough space for 2 and across the road from the main hotel. I also asked about room service and a late check out - we were told we could get room service but on our stay we were told there was no room
Service we could go to the restaurant and order food. When we did they said we couldn’t as breakfast had finished and lunch hadn’t started. We left without eating. The room was not worth the money at all.
Great Aparmtnt in a very good location in bishops Stortford. easy access to the shops and airport.
It has all the amnesties one need and free car parking space too which was ideal for me.
but above all owner was very accommodating and helped me out with a few times of modifications to my booking
A very pleasant stay - comfortable bed, clean rooms, good food, and good service. Some areas of the hotel are really charming with an 'English country house' feel. There are plenty of facilities here, and if we had more time we would have made better use of them (e.g. steam room).
Very small room absolutely no one to look after, no attendant for any support, for example we were shocked to see no hot water in bath rooms, we had to chase customer care for 4 hours for hot water in bathrooms, that too was switched on for 1 hour only.
Hotel is in jungle
Perfect location for Stansted, bus stop just up the road or train station about 10 minutes walk, both direct to the airport. If the Hotel has the space you can leave your car for a very reasonable cost. Bishop Stortford is lovely for a few drinks and a bite to eat.
Location perfect for the airport and lovely quiet surroundings. Clean, comfy beds and welcoming, kind, helpful staff. Not a ‘posh’ hotel but everything you need for a budget stay. Stayed twice, would stay again and recommend to others. Did not eat here.
The guest house itself was very pretty and the staff very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was also very tasty and excellent value for money. The location is just outside of Bishops Stortford but very quiet and peaceful.
The George hotel is ideally located within the the main street of town. The room was had was spacious, airy and clean and the bathroom had a very good shower. Extremely well priced. The manager Dee was very helpful.
Price very good compared to other apartments I've stayed in in Bishops Stortford. Location also quiet which is surprising when located just off the high street. Property manager also nice to deal with.
+ Super clean and smelled great!
+ Spacious
+ All basic kitchen utensils are present
+ Nice, neutral interior
+ No loud neighbors
+ Hour drive from London City
The cottage guest house was a great base for us whilst in the area for a wedding. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly, we would definitely stay again.
