The breakfast was acceptable though in spite of advance warning of our dietary requirements the choice was limited - no suitable cereal, bread quality poor, breakfast overall uninspiring .
Staff seemed more interested in their paperwork and needed to be called as they were not looking for discreet gestures/table progress. They would pass at random times to suit themselves and say 'all good' - without listening first or looking for evidence of needs. The evening waitress was attentive but we were almost the last customers. Our wine was brought half way through the main course and we had to remind the staff twice!

Very under-rated town, has fine buidings, historic walls, is superbly situated by mouth of River Tweed; excellent rail service; gorgeous countryside and coast very near. Deseserves to be far better known. One of the jewels of the UK.

Berwick has great historical interest and lots to do and see. There are some good restaurants like Mavi and Foxtons, lots of small independent shops and great walks around the walls. It is also a great base for visits to the surrounding Borders country with its many and varied attractions.

Plenty of choice for accommodation if you plan on staying...
Plenty of choice for accommodation if you plan on staying over & reasonably priced. Lovely historal place with nice cafes & places to eat or drink. Car parking is free both short & long stay. Short stay you need to buy a pass/clock £1 from local shops or maybe included with your accommodation. We stayed Monday to Friday this year & previously Friday to Monday last year. Both places we stayed were comfy, high standard of cleanliness & was very impressed with both. So can recommend both Stow House & Strothers Guest House if you're planning to stay over for few nights. Also beach is not too far away & some lovely walks including the castle walls. If you enjoy fish n chips theres quite few chippies too. We tried Castlegate & really nice. There's also couple that do sit in & dine. There's also Haven caravan park a short walk away from town centre. Regular bus service around town centre & surrounding areas. Was quite quiet possibly being April when we visited this time. The market is on Wednesday & Saturdays which was also quiet but again this could be as its still probably low season.

Not how I remember it but it was forty years since I was there. Covid has shut down a lot of places so a bit of a ghost town but enjoyed walking around the walls which surround the town and reading all the information boards on the way. Crossing the bridge that spans the river tweed was a nice walk too. We had a meal in the amore restaurant which was really nice on our way back too the hotel we discovered a gem of a gift shop called grannies

It’s my home town, I grew up in Berwick and always love returning. The people are friendly, the architecture is great, it’s an ideal centre for walking, with a choice of countryside, sea views or river views. The high street looks a bit tired, but that’s in line with many town centres currently. There are still many independent shops and several restaurants supplying good food at a range of prices.

Centre a bit down on its luck like many towns these days.
Centre a bit down on its luck like many towns these days. But the walks around the old town and the walls are always splendid. Some interesting shops on Bridge Street - books, green produce, kitchen utensils.

This place is breathtaking. The design and decor was amazing. The room is comfortable and a very good size.
The is a beautiful walk along the front to enjoy.
Berwick is only 5 minutes down the road which is wonderful as well. Dog friendly hotel so get ready to meet lots of friends
Round of applause to the staff who where absolutely amazing, especially Sue at reception. Never met such a welcoming person
My room was a little quirky as it was without a window that you could look out. However, it was clean and reasonably priced. The staff was very welcoming and accomodating. There was a secure place to store my bicycle. The hotel is very convenient if you are traveling by train and it is close to serveral good restaurants. Breakfast was good and cooked to order. I would stay here again.
The room was spotlessly clean and extremely well furnished and decorated. Breakfast was amazing and staff so friendly. It's a good half an hour walk into Berwick from the property, just what we wanted on a dry evening when we got there. We appreciated the fresh milk and bottle of water in the fridge, much nicer than those uht pods of milk you sometimes get at places.
Very comfortable, spacious and cosy flat. We loved staying here. Usually we stay in a hotel or guest house when we come to Berwick, but this time we stayed here - it was a home away from home. Great communication with the owner too. Thoroughly recommend and will stay here again.
Enjoyed the stay at Queens Head Hotel. Staff very friendly and provided excellent service. we had evening meal and breakfast which were both excellent. nice beer as well.
room was comfortable and clean. super location and free parking for 24 hours in the harbour car park.
It was convenient for walking into Berwick and an excellent base for visiting the surrounding area. It was comfortable, clean and well supplied. The Prosecco, chocolates and milk were very welcome and shows the welcoming nature of the owners and their thoughtfulness.
I liked the staff who helped me out after I checked into location of the hotel with a small issue. The location was fantastic, and the place was neat and clean, basic but very nice for a short stay!! I'd stay again!! Very responsive
Lovely Couple and very quiet nice hotel, breakfast was great and property is in lovely location, parking is limited and weather was horrible but couple were full of local knowledge and gave great recommendations for places to eat.
Food was excellent and staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is perfect location next to the abbey and with a great view of the castle . And as the island is cut off twice a day by the tide it is very peaceful.
Rob (the host) is very friendly and makes an amazing English breakfast. The hotel is clean and tidy, and the location is perfect, just 2 minutes away from the high street. The price corresponds to what is offered.
Very dog friendly. No problem arranging for breakfast in the bar area with our dog. Super breakfast. Excellent location for travelling by train as very close to Berwick station
