Lovely hotel, staff were great, location excellent. Had a room that overlooked the racecourse which was an added bonus. The gym was very small and not very well equipped.

Earl Of Doncaster Hotel, hotel in Barnby Dun

This South Yorkshire Art Deco hotel is less than 500 metres from both Doncaster’s town centre and race course. There is free secure parking, and free Wi-Fi in public areas.

Food in the restaurant was excellent. The salmon fillet was huge. Good spacious room, with an iron and ironing board (essential). Providing Taylor coffee bags is a bonus. I always tend to carry some with me anyway. Toiletries pack was great as I had to use some items.

No breakfast availability, although food was very nice in the restaurant in the evening. Not as clean as I had hoped - some stains on furniture where liquid had been spilt, windows and frames very dirty. The furniture was old and some needed repairing (e.g. no handles on some of the drawers). Bed too soft and very flat lumpy lumpy pillows.

I arrived at the Lodge at 8pm after a long tiring day, I had a nice warm shower, watch Tv for about an hour and went to sleep, in the morning it was another rush back to work. I had a good night sleep and my bedroom was warm enough. The room was clean with clean fresh bedding. Thank you very much 😀

I wouldn’t stay at The Lodge in Barnby Dun ever again, we booked this because it was closest to the racecourse but were bitterly disappointed with the accommodation. It was very dated and quite run down. Stained sheets, cracks in the walls, dents and holes in walls, foist smelling and grubby waste bin, broken and mouldy blinds up at the windows, old and ragged furniture, mould on mattress which seeped through to bed linen, dirty laundry piled up along the corridor so had to squeeze past to get in and out of room. To be honest I wanted to sleep in the car.
