The Moorland Hotel, Haytor, Devon, hotel in Ashburton

The Moorland Hotel, Haytor, Devon features a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Haytor. This 4-star hotel offers room service, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi.

The breakfast was reasonable. We stayed for two days, the first break fast was 'ok' the second day was much better, perhaps it was a diffferent chef. Staff were friendly & helpful. Plenty of tea/coffee supplied. Bathroom/shower was great although the basin tap water pressure was too high and shot water over the floor a few times.

Breakfast was very well cooked, and they had gluten and dairy options of cereals, if you could eat oats and also Vitalite. Nice chairs in the bar area and a huge selection of Gin. Very nice staff, although one of your waitresses did not know the difference between a piece of hake and plaice, when delivering our lunch.!!

Beautiful town with loads of independently run shops and a couple of restaurants. Great base for day trips further afield too such as the many picturesque beaches that are about 30 minutes by car. Beware of the roads. Incredibly narrow!

The hotel is about half an hour from Plymouth and is an ideal place for an overnight stop before catching the ferry to Santander. However it is surrounded by countryside although situated just off the main road. Other travellers staying were exploring the Dartmoor countryside either on bikes or walking. The staff were very personable and attentive. We had an exceptional meal in the restaurant at night. The breakfast was good and our room was compact but adequate. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to others.

Near to Buckfast Abbey which is well worth a visit and has undergone a thorough restoration. On the very edge of Dartmoor and all the beautiful scenery and walks that it has to offer. Easy access to Plymouth via A38. There is a steam train in Buckfastleigh that runs to Totnes where you can get a boat to Dartmouth. Ashburton is famous for its Antique shops and the village itself is well worth a walk around'

Chris and Suzy were very friendly and helpful. The bed was most comfortable. My room was at the back of the building so it was quiet which I appreciated. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to see the garden as it gets dark early this time of year but I would happily come back to stay if I was back in Ashburton again.

Ashburton in the centre of lovely town with loads of independent shops . This is a unique quirky house almost rambling from one area to another around a central court yard. Very old and stuffed with antique pictures etc. Like living in a museum -what a privilege ! The master on suite was stupendous.
