Spacious rooms / suites - comfortable, clean and connected to WiFi. Bathroom had large shower. Separate WC.
Breakfast sums up Fred & Bridgette's qualities as hosts - home made yoghurt, bread and pastries - choice of delicious jams. Quality coffee, tea, juices. Made to feel very special.
Location was excellent - though we had a hire car to get about. Visited beautiful hilltop villages, markets, bars, restaurants. Spent an evening in Albi - pop up communal food and bands. Listen to Fred - he knows all the best local attractions.
The dining area is al fresco, great for nature lovers (the hosts 'look after' a couple of cats who live in the surrounding woods and come to say hi now & again). Pool looks brand new, and is clean, comfortable and a good size.
Set just 30 km from Montauban Train Station, L'étape du château features accommodation in Bruniquel with access to a terrace, a bar, as well as full-day security.

Free parking close by. Lovely continental breakfast. Super friendly hostess who spoke very good English! Beautiful view from the Green Bedroom. October is very quiet but a lovely Bar and ice cream tea room open during the day and just a short walk up towards the Chateau. Excellent views from the top of this most beautiful village. Chateau was still open, approx 5 Euro entrance fee. Host recommended a Pizza restaurant for our evening meal, a short walk down the hill which is excellent.
Very beautiful place and lots of village cats!
Featuring pool with a view and views of garden, Domaine Les Miquels is a bed and breakfast situated in a historic building in Castelnau-de-Montmiral, 34 km from Albi Cathedral.

Loved, loved & Loved this chambre d'hote.
Dominique and his charming wife and son made it feel like a home from home.
Kathie and I especially enjoyed Dominique's "table d'hote" where he prepares a classic french 4 course meal to the highest standards.
Thank you Dominquie and Laurence

A lovely taste of French living in the scenic country side
A stunning, medieval village with a real sense of community.
A stunning, medieval village with a real sense of community.
The village shop was well stocked with provisions and we particularly enjoyed the little tubs of delicious organic fruit sorbets they sold, all produced locally. Very refreshing on hot days.
Despite its size, there is a choice of dining options, all of which enjoy a good reputation. We loved the dinners at l'Ancienne Auberge, where Greg, the chef, takes enormous pride in the quality and provenance of his ingredients. Here's a man - with the passion and flair for cooking - who consistently turns out delicious and imaginative dishes.
We were lucky to attend a free outdoor concert by a group of young and telented operal singers, who performed in the square in front of the church. There are several artists and sculptors in the village and we enjoyed an exhibition by one of their number.
This is a place that might appeal to walkers. There are numerous trails in the forest of Gresigne, some of which begin in Puycelsi. During hot weather, they provided ample shade!
It's worth noting that guests who stay in the village can get a parking permit to park at a short distance from all the accommodation. Our hosts at l'Ancienne Auberge provided that for us for the duration. Otherwise, traffic is mainly confined to the edge of the village, which makes Puycelsi a peaceful, almost traffic-free place.

The old hilltop town is stunning and well worth the very steep drive and the views are amazing. We had a lovely three course meal at the Jardin de Lys. I would recommend booking as it is not a large restaurant. We had drinks in Roc Cafe, very friendly and typically French. The church is worth a visit and the ceiling is breathtaking. A walk around the ramparts is interesting and easy walking with stunning views. If visiting in high season parking is very limited but a large car park at the bottom of the hill is provided with facilities.

L'Auberge is in the MOST delightful hilltop village - Puycelci. Perfect tranquility, an excellent bistro in the centre, lovely walks and breathtaking views. L'Auberge itself is a beautifully decorated historic building. Our flight was delayed and instead of arriving at 6 pm, we pitched up past 11 pm. The proprietors, Gregg and Sophie, were so very gracious about the bother - stayed up to greet us, provided glasses of wine to enjoy on the terrace, carried our bags. They could not have been more kind. Thank you Gregg and Sophie!
The gite was probably the best equipped we have ever stayed in. Literally everything you might need was provided. The property had been very well modernised while retaining all of its charm. The two bathrooms in particular were great. And of course, Puycelci is just a wonderful village. The two main restaurants restored our faith in French cuisine and the local epicerie had everything you might need for a holiday stay. And finally thanks to Ged for dealing instantly with any queries.
Beautiful hotel in the heart of this lovely village.
Room was big with a great little terrace which caught the afternoon sun. No view but that didn't matter. Greg was so lovely and helpful and the evening meal was great, as was breakfast, and very reasonable. The visiting cat was an added bonus.
Puycelci is a wonderful place and this hotel is right in the centre. The room was very nice with a clean bathroom and shower and a comfortable bed. We also had a view over the square to the church. The evening meal was excellent cooked by the owner with great attention to detail.
A most beautiful hotel in a stunning location. The owners are delightful, attentive and extremely welcoming. We took the half-board option and were so glad we did as the food was truly exceptional.
