If you like history then this is the place for you, with a beautiful cathedral and cloister, a museum of local and regional history and other fascinating buildings. There is an excellent shopping area and good restaurants.

Bayonne is a beautiful little town, absolutely adorable.
Bayonne is a beautiful little town, absolutely adorable. There are loads of nice restaurants and the people are very friendly. There are also a lot of nice little shops, and the market Saturday morning is lovely. You can walk everywhere, but there are also little buses you can ride for free. The rivers in the center are impressive and beautiful, and you can stay looking at the water for hours, especially when the tide water comes up and goes down.
We also took a lunch and afternoon trip to Guéthary (that a server at a bar recommended us), a tiny little town by the sea. Beautiful and really nice food.

Bayonne (Baiona) is a lovely town, very Basque.
Bayonne (Baiona) is a lovely town, very Basque. Great restaurants, and handy for the road south into Spain. BUT: parking is an issue. If you are staying in the centre, the station car park costs upwards of €14. If you like a couple of glasses of wine with dinner... otherwise it's a taxi at similar cost.

Very beautiful, authentic and preserved medieval town in the Basque Country of France. The downtown area is small and bisected by a river, it doesn't get much prettier than that. The food scene is fantastic, with plenty of Basque and French options - I'd recommend Les Tontons Flingueurs, and PATXAMAMA. Also, try the chocolates there, they are amazing! (L'Atelier du Chocolat, Chocolaterie Puyodebat). The ritzy beaches and charming old town of Biarritz are just a 15-minute drive away.

The atmosphere around city helped to make a very enjoyable stay ,both sightseeing and visiting bars and restaurants. A bus/tram has improved greatly link between Bayonne and Biarritz allowing visitors to spend time on beaches without actually staying there.

We only stopped during a trip from Northern France to Portugal. We didn't see any of Bayonne. We chose the hotel as it was just off the motorway and good for quick access back on the motorway the next morning.
Superb panoramic view from the hotel lodge.
Pretty small, but comfortable room, very comfy bed and unbelievable linen!
Bathroom making big impression, but not that comfortable, it will need to be bigger, especially the area around sink and toilet.
Very friendly stuff.
We didn't have breakfast, but had dinner which was a bit weird experience, as we were the only people in the hotel restaurant.
Location close enough to Bayonne centre.
Everything about Le Bayonne was superb, all of the highest order. Friendly and helpful staff all over. Tasteful, modern decor and a very relaxing atmosphere throughout. Bedroom/shower was perfect. A comfortable bed ensured a great night's sleep. Location of hotel was ideal, on a lovely riverbank walkway and close to the city centre. And i was more than happy with the price, excellent value for money.
The Hotel is very well located almost opposite Gare de Bayonne and about 10 minutes walk into Bayonne. Room reasonable size with reasonable storage facilities. Comfortable bed. Good shower. Good breakfast. Staff friendly. Hotel quiet but some noise from the Fountain Square outside. WiFi generally good.
Great location, just around the corner from the town centre and easy reach of bars and restaurants. Clean and comfortable rooms.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Would use this hotel again when staying in Bayonne.
The room was very spacious and light. The bathroom was super. The staff were helpful and I also appreciated a car park as parking can be difficult in France. It’s in a great location in the edge of the old town.
Amazing room with flair in a perfectly situated spot ! Parking available, rooms quiet and comfortable , Espresso and Tea available in the room ! Bayonne has so much to offer and we will certainly come back !
A good clean hotel with ample parking and friendly staff. The hotel is right next to a Courtepaille Grill, which is now owned by Buffalo Grill. The food was not quite as good as that of the Buffalo Grill.
Very nice and helpful lady in the reception. The location was excellent. We had time to walk around Bayonne and still had time to visit Biarritz beach. The room was small but OK for one night.
The room, even if it's a bit small, is very confortable and with everything needed. The hotel has a nice amount of free products/services, including soft drinks, snacks, sauna and gym.
Very quiet, spacious and comfortable. Slept very well. Possibly our toddler’s best sleep in France. Owner was very friendly, responsive and explained everything well.
We enjoyed a good night of sleep in the very comfy bed. The place was super clean and spacious, in the ground floor of an amazing house in the suburbs of Bayonne.
