we came quite late, receptionist was very friendly and helpful, checkin process was very smooth and fast, he even offered me to store my bike in locked room, kudos to him. We stayed only one night. Room was basic. Clean. Big enough for three of us and a dog. good location of the hotel. A lot of street parking spaces nearby (you need to pay the street parking)

I was returning by train from Berlin to Basel, when a freak rainstorm wiped out the DB signalling system and we all had to leave the train at Karlsruhe, further travel impossible. Some people slept the night in the train - some, like me, blew a hundred Euros on comfort. I booked, using my mobile phone , while standing in line at this hotel along with dozens of others. Totally uncomplicated, very comfortable room, friendly staff. Great location, next to the station. I would go there for a future visit to Karlsruhe!

The reception is digital and went smoothly so you don’t see the staff that much and that saves costs I guess. The room was simple but clean with tea and coffee, a kettle and a fridge so nice small add ons… and the breakfast was very diverse. There was always a vegan dish, cheeses and meets, fresh fruit and vegtables and lots of nuts, seeds and dry fruit to pep up your musli so I guess what they save on staff goes into a good breakfast - it’s not fancy but has everything you need…

The royal palace and its surrounding park and federal offices are worth visiting. Also the historic main square with its pyramid is a well designed place. There is a lot of public art and small little plates on posts with highly critical comments on the political reality in Germany - amazing. Downtown is kind of frozen in the 1970s and the main pedestrian zone is too big for this town size. The street car is underground which reduced the street vibrancy of the Kaiserstrasse. Most stores and restaurants are outdated. The pedestrianized side streets are without life. Majority of buildings is from the 1960s and 1970s and appear unkept and rundown. Somehow Karlsruhe is an odd place. Getting around by car without the navigation on is a challange.

For the city in general, more English speaking would be better for the city, but it’s understandable why they wouldn’t speak as much English compared to other cities. Regardless I really enjoyed my stay and people were friendly and good hearted in general, I recommend anyone to take a visit when possible.
It’s very simple to get around via public transport. The food is good and there is a lot to choose from.

The city was bigger than expected with a lot to do. The Palace was a museum/gallery rather than a traditional palace and I would highly recommend climbing the tower stairs! Lots of other museums, churches and gardens etc or there are loads of places for shopping.

There's a youthful college-town vibe to the cafes and bars downtown; the city is flat so it's easy to walk everywhere, the Natural History Museum is not to be missed if you like that sort of thing, public transport is better than most, very good restaurant scene

Service was excellent, rooms were clean, beds are good quality and bathroom was sufficient.
The breakfast was excellent.
Close to the train station, walking distance. Free parking for car. WiFi worked great.

It is in a beautiful location in the Schwarzwald.
It is in a beautiful location in the Schwarzwald. The hotel is in a quiet location though a five or so minute walk from the hauptbahnhof. If zoos are your thing there is one literally across the street. The location is well connected with busses, trams, and trains. You can see so many surrounding towns this way. Either get a land ticket (regional trains) or a day ticket (bus and trams).
I would visit again Karlsruhe again.
The rooms are quiet, although a little small for our expectations. The rooms were made up daily. Towels are restocked on a daily basis. The pin-based entry and remote check-in are a definite plus. The biggest advantage is they do not charge for the parking which is a covered parking area. The access to and from the city to the hotel is also great, even if you are using the tram or ICE. both the stations are just 5 minute's walk away.
This is a perfect hotel in a perfect location, just a short walk from Karlsruhe HBF (main train station). Very clean, friendly staff, excellent breakfast, quiet neighbourhood, opposite the zoo, relaxed...

Modern hotel with nicely furnished rooms. Pleasant staff who spoke good english. Very good buffet breakfast. There are no restaurant facilities but we came across two (I don't count McDonalds etc.) within a 10 minute walk. Consider booking before hand. Not too far off the B10.
An excellent breakfast, had the best scrambled eggs ever there (with vegetables). Nice restaurant (art deco atmosphere), very friendly staff. Perfect parking facilities and very reasonably priced. If we go back to Karlsruhe, we will certainly stay in hotel Rio again.
It is a comfortable hotel with a nice, calm and darker interior and committed staff. Not too far away from the train station (unless you have heavy luggage). Breakfast excellent. Offers bike renting. Quiet and safe area. Reception open late night. Would visit again.
We enjoyed the hotel for the short time we were there. The staff was nice and helpful and the room was nice. The later checkout in comparison from other places was very much appreciated because you don't need to rush in the morning gathering your baggage, etc.
The hotel seems to have been recently renovated. The bed was good, and the bathroom infrastructure was also good. The breakfast was also good. The location was also good, because it was close to a U-Bahn station and near the city center.
Very nice hotel, quiet, clean and comfy. Close to the city centre. Very welcoming and nice staff. A nice big parking lot is available on site. There is a tram station nearby, where you can get a tram directly to the heart of the city.
Really disappointed. Employee totally disorganised, missing intern communication and bad management.
We do not think we will book the same hotel next year for the fair we attend, and we will do bad publicity of the hotel.
The room was very clean & comfotable, the staff very welcoming, the breakfast- delicious. We traveled with a dog so the fact that the hotel is open to dogs was amazing! Thank you everyone who made this stay so enjoyable!
The hotel is new; it smelled good in the hallways. The elevator was a nice bonus. The receptionist, when he was present, was super nice and helpful each time I needed assistance.
We liked that it is very practical to be just next to the train station (Hauptbahnhof) and all the public transports.
