Checkin process was easy, contact with Stuub was smooth. Provided dog bowls and treats for us too. Breakfast was very good too, and there’s great access for walking and biking. Nice gym. Super good value for money.

It's a lovely Black Forrest village near the Ravenna Gorge Christmas Market- one of the most unique markets in Europe. Its a short drive or train ride to Titisee or Freiburg. We were there in December but there seemed to be quite a few summer activities and sights offered Overall, I enjoyed the relaxation and fresh forest air and atmosphere before a week adventure to Strasbourg, Baden Baden and on to Frankfurt. Made for a beautiful first stop on Christmas Market adventure.

Hinterzarten is a sleepy and quaint village in the Black Forest a walk through the forest away from more touristy spots like Titisee-Neustadt. I like visiting these places but returning to a lesser known village like Hinterzarten. Bus and trains easily take you around the area as well. We visited Freiburg for a day and then came back to this lovely village with a handful of wellness hotels and a few shops and restaurants. If you want a quiet stay where the focus is on wellness and nature, this is a great spot.

It's a great choice.
It's a great choice. Location in the Black Foest is such a plus, Hinterzartin is big enough to walk ar0und the town and eat out if you please. A much better choice then Titisee, the tourist town a few kilometers. If you want a much more relaxes stay, this wouldn't be the one.

Hinterzarten is a beautiful village in the Black Forest with beautiful Chalet style houses. An ideal location to do as much or as little as you want. Oh and yes, a gorgeous bakers/café/cake shop!
I normally don’t write reviews, and I normally don’t care much about hotels as a solo traveler. But Hotel Sonne Garbo has made my trip in Hinterzarten so happy, that I wanted to stay in the hotel more, and feel sad leaving it.
The owner has a great laugh and smile, she was very friendly. The breakfast was very delicious and cute, the owner gave me a table next to the window and I can have good view of garden.
The room was very cute and has lots of details that makes your stay comfortable. I wish I could come back again some day!
One of the best retreats I've had: this is a fantastic top quality hotel run by the most hospitable crew you can imagine. Its rooms, facilities, services, are all you need and more. Its wellness area, spa treatments and restaurant are of outstanding quality. I have no words. No wonder most of the guests return year after year. The area is stunning, perfect for relaxing hikes and more, and the forest is right there, out of your window.
Location is outstanding. Parking next door to hotel. Breakfast was great and we chose the restaurant for dinner and were very pleased. Food and wine selections were great and delicious. Bus to Ravenna Christmas market picked up next door to the hotel...no more than 1 minute away from hotel front door.

great host, cosy family-run hotel. the room is nicely decorated and very clean, the breakfast buffet was excellent. the location is super, as it’s only a few minutes away from the train station. if I were to come back to Hinterzarten in the future, I would definitely come back to this hotel.
We communicated with the host a couple of times prior to our arrival. We were hiking in the black forest and thus could not tell when we would arrive. The host was very understanding and as we approached Hinterzarten we briefly synced to arrange for check-in.
Excellent facility. The hotel was very comfortable with spacious rooms. Enjoyed the balcony. Great views of the surrounding area. The quaint neighborhood in the mountains with a snowy blanket was wonderful. Breakfast was very good.
For travelers to the Black Forest area , it is located perfectly. First it is right on the highway, and it is easy to get to. Second, the hotel was clean, designed nicely, and the stuff were nice and welcoming.
We came for the Christmas market at Ravenna Gorge; great location! Easy access into downtown Hinterzarten. Excellent communication regarding self check-in, facility access.

The close proximity to everything was the main thing. The hotel is in what can be considered the town center and Is a good starting point for all activities.
Breakfast was nice. the Hotel bought gluten free bread for us that was very nice. Parking was free and available most of the time. The location is great.
