It's a lovely Black Forrest village near the Ravenna Gorge Christmas Market- one of the most unique markets in Europe. Its a short drive or train ride to Titisee or Freiburg. We were there in December but there seemed to be quite a few summer activities and sights offered Overall, I enjoyed the relaxation and fresh forest air and atmosphere before a week adventure to Strasbourg, Baden Baden and on to Frankfurt. Made for a beautiful first stop on Christmas Market adventure.

It was beyond my expectation. So quaint and charming. It felt like a storybook weekend get away. I would absolutely go back and stay. Perfect location for multiple families wanting a trip away together with their own privacy and space.

Hinterzarten is a sleepy and quaint village in the Black Forest a walk through the forest away from more touristy spots like Titisee-Neustadt. I like visiting these places but returning to a lesser known village like Hinterzarten. Bus and trains easily take you around the area as well. We visited Freiburg for a day and then came back to this lovely village with a handful of wellness hotels and a few shops and restaurants. If you want a quiet stay where the focus is on wellness and nature, this is a great spot.

It's a great choice.
It's a great choice. Location in the Black Foest is such a plus, Hinterzartin is big enough to walk ar0und the town and eat out if you please. A much better choice then Titisee, the tourist town a few kilometers. If you want a much more relaxes stay, this wouldn't be the one.

Hinterzarten is a beautiful village in the Black Forest with beautiful Chalet style houses. An ideal location to do as much or as little as you want. Oh and yes, a gorgeous bakers/café/cake shop!

It is a small cute town in the middle of the Black Forrest! In the area you have the beautiful Titisee (lake, 12 minutes by cae) ) and the Ravennaschlucht (8-10 minutes by car) that you can enjoy walking a long a path following the river and cascades! Before the Ravennaschlucht, you can also see the Ravennabrücke (1885 old and high bridge) and visit the Hofgut Sternen where Goethe and Maria Antoniete once stayed! Totally worth a visit!
This Hotel was amazing. The people were so welcoming and friendly. The location is perfect in this beautiful town. It is just around the corner from the train station and close to anything you might need in this lovely place. I highly recommend Sonne Garni. The room was stunning, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The breakfast was very nice with a big selection. I loved my stay in Hinterzarten and Sonne Garni was the cherry on the top. I cannot wait to return. If you are lucky to visit Hinterzarten, stay at Hotel Sonne Garni.
The best apartment we have rented in Germany - no question! It was bright, warm, very comfortable - in fact, more comfortable than home. The kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials for cooking, making toast, soup, or a complete dinner - plates and utensils were an IKEA lover's heaven. The dining area seats 8 and the living area can host a very nice gathering for family and friends. Digital TV to boot: BBC, France24, etc. Two bedrooms and two baths! No need to fight for a quick shower. It was just perfect - hard to leave.
I normally don’t write reviews, and I normally don’t care much about hotels as a solo traveler. But Hotel Sonne Garbo has made my trip in Hinterzarten so happy, that I wanted to stay in the hotel more, and feel sad leaving it.
The owner has a great laugh and smile, she was very friendly. The breakfast was very delicious and cute, the owner gave me a table next to the window and I can have good view of garden.
The room was very cute and has lots of details that makes your stay comfortable. I wish I could come back again some day!
It is in the town center (train station behide the hotel). A lot of free parking space. The hotel gave us 1 day free transportation ticket. If you plan to go to Titisee, this place is a good option and you do not need to pay for expensive hotel or parking there. The hotel restaurant closes on Tuesday, so we been called to come get the key before all the staff leaving. The hotel is beautiful and the bed is comfy. Hotel staff very helpful. Breakfast was great, both quality and options)
One of the best retreats I've had: this is a fantastic top quality hotel run by the most hospitable crew you can imagine. Its rooms, facilities, services, are all you need and more. Its wellness area, spa treatments and restaurant are of outstanding quality. I have no words. No wonder most of the guests return year after year. The area is stunning, perfect for relaxing hikes and more, and the forest is right there, out of your window.
The room was clean and comfortable, the shower room was big enough and clean. There were some usable toiletries in addition to the regular ones like shower cap and Q-tips. Breakfast was very good and the staff were very nice, the manager even let me leave my luggage in the hotel for a few days, till I came back from my bicycle trip in the black forest.
