An interesting & elegant hotel in an amazing old village within a beautiful setting, the garden is really outstanding. Restaurant offers good GF options for dinner and a super selection for breakfast, which we ate in the garden.

Great place to set your base for visiting the Black Forest.
Great place to set your base for visiting the Black Forest. Less busy than Freiburg and relatively close to Triberg and Baden Baden, which we also liked but are more mixed with modern architecture. Also very close to old castels and other nice quiet beatiful towns like Haslach in Kinzigtal, Zell am Harmersbach and others.

lovely friendly small historic town . lots going on markets galleries etc
Good restaurants and cafes for breakfast. .very good ice cream parlour. theres even a chance to do a lamp light tour with a night watch man as they did in the olden days ... a lovely walk through a vineyard to a church on the hill. All our train journeys were free with the Konus Karte.. given by the hotelier. We travelled back to Basel Airport free of charge . the train takes you to lovely little places like Schiltach and Haslach .. so pretted and typical of the Black Forest ..... dont forget to try the Black Forest gateau !!

Gengenbach itself is a very small little town but quite cute. The food is predominantly Italian - still don't know why. In town itself I don't think you need more than a day, but you are close to Strassburg and several other small towns, hikes and wineries nearby.

We chose Gengenbach as a base as it was easy to get train to other places and go for local walks. It is a pleasant village which is quite picturesque. It is not touristy. There are quite a few restaurants. Menus only in German so make sure you have a phrase book!

What an amazing village and the location of the property was perfect. In the evenings the entire family (8) met at the cafe owned by the property owners and had ice cream, dessert, wine and or beer. DELICIOUS!! It was a lovely way to end each day. We all want to come back!

This is a small friendly town with lots of dining options, a museum, a night-time tour of the town with a historical talk by the Nachtwaechter, beautiful church. In December the Rathaus is turned into the "world's largest Advent calendar."
This accomodation was amazing and even BETTER than coming home!!! The contact with the Gastgeber Susanne & Jean-Marie Trapp was very nice. They are very open and answer every question/doubt you have. The appartment was just beautiful and very clean. It has got every detail and there is an amazing atmosphere. We had a very romantic time in this appartement and the beautiful town Gengenbach. We definitely recommend it to everyone. Thank you so much for accepting us as your guests. Big hug Alexis and Nathalie
Everything was perfect, to the smallest detail. We were 10 friends, occupying both apartments. Location central and close to everything. Host was available for information at all times. Gengenbach perfect for the Black Forest experience. Will stay again.
Great sized room and comfortable bed. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh, nice hotel and location was great to also visit the old town by foot. Ample parking, friendly staff.
