The Locarno-Ascona area deserves about 3 days to enjoy fully. The islands were affected by recent storms. 2 days didn’t had time for Golf and Monte Veritable , I chose Carnada. In Ascona you can do treasure hunt and kid receives a small toy bonus.

Very beautiful city, but tremendously expensive. The prices seem fairly typical for Switzerland, but can be a shock when coming from elsewhere. It is almost impossible to have a proper meal for less than 20Frs, and even a plate of French fries or a hot sandwich is like 7 or 8Frs.

Ascona is a wonderful place.
Ascona is a wonderful place. Nice waterfront and restaurants along the shore side. Very calm and beautiful. Many places to visit around. Boat ride along the river was fantastic. Mount Tamaro was very excellent. Thrilling sludge ride and rope rides were excellent. We went a for a trekking with Lama with children which was much enjoyed.
Did not have time to visit Brisago island. So will go again.

There are bus and boat connections to Locarno and also to Italy making it a perfect centre for exploring the area

The view from our hotel room was fantastic, the mountains, the lake, the buildings on the nearby shore, the outdoor restaurants opposite the hotel, the colour of everything told you that you were on holidays. We were there for the Swiss National Day celebration and the crowds then were terrific. The location of the hotel is fine being on the lake. It is only a 5 minute walk to the bus stop which takes you to Locarno and it's train station, which can take you anywhere. The hotel provides you with a free transport voucher for anywhere in the Canton. Also being on the lake you can take a ferry around the lake. We went as far as Stresa which is in northern Italy for lunch. The ferry is not free. We usually ate outdoors in the hotel restaurant but sometimes at other restaurants on the shore of the lake. An added bonus for us was that a pigeon was nesting in the flower pot attached to our balcony and she had a baby and in the week we were there we watched her feeding it, and sharing it's feeding with her mate. We could also see how quickly it grew with the development of it's pin feathers.
There is nothing we would avoid.
The hotel is not right on the waterside of Ascona but we didn't mind where it was situated, since it was a very pleasant walk into Ascona and the hotel was situated in a very quiet area. The owner was extremely helpful in a professional and unobtrusive way, she was always on hand to answer any questions. The hotel has a lovely garden and restaurant terrace, where you could also take breakfast. There was a good choice for breakfast, and tea/coffee/bread are served to your table. It was good value for money.
THIS VIEW 😍 I never knew I could visit a place that had snow capped mountains and palm trees at the same time! Our concierge described Ascona as a “sleepy village” and I couldn’t agree more! Such a cute place and our room was wonderful! We loved sitting on our terrace and it was conveniently located near restaurants. We walked around near the lake a bit before leaving in the morning. If you want a lovely spot to stay in Ascona, I highly recommend Hotel Elvezia ☺️
Everything was exceptional. I would recommend this hotel as a true example of what first class service looks like. The photos, as great at they are, don’t do justice to how beautiful, well maintained and clean the hotel was. The service and attention to detail are some of the best I’ve ever seen. The heated pool, restaurant, breakfast options were just incredible. Thank you to everyone for making this a truly unforgettable stay.
A hotel stay I won't soon forget. Phenomenal service from start to finish. Breakfast was outstanding, the room and bed comfortable, even with a "bespoke pillow menu" (!) Hotel staff went above and beyond to connect us with a local bike shop to facilitate a specific rental. (Wonderful cycling scenery, to boot) It's a pricey stay obviously, but feel we got what we paid for.
We were very pleased with our room it was very large. This is a very dog friendly hotel. There are lots of great dog walking areas very close to the hotel. The staff were all very welcoming. The outdoor car parking is perfect for large vehicles. There are a couple of good restaurants a short walk from the hotel.
Charming hotel in the center of Ascona with wonderful breakfast. The room was great and comfortable and had everything you needed. We ended up prolonging our stay for one more night and while it wasn't possible for us to keep the same room, the staff were able to provide us with another one.
Great location but this is an old hotel without much in the way of modern conveniences - in very hot weather, a courtyard room, which means it just overlooked the garbage cans, was airless and without air conditioning. Not exactly a romantic getaway. Lovely staff, though.

Location was great - a short walk to downtown Ascona. The restaurant was very nice, good food, lovely atmosphere and some nice amari to try. They also had a place to keep our bicycles overnight (as we were bike touring).
