The Locarno-Ascona area deserves about 3 days to enjoy fully. The islands were affected by recent storms. 2 days didn’t had time for Golf and Monte Veritable , I chose Carnada. In Ascona you can do treasure hunt and kid receives a small toy bonus.

Very beautiful city, but tremendously expensive. The prices seem fairly typical for Switzerland, but can be a shock when coming from elsewhere. It is almost impossible to have a proper meal for less than 20Frs, and even a plate of French fries or a hot sandwich is like 7 or 8Frs.

Ascona is a wonderful place.
Ascona is a wonderful place. Nice waterfront and restaurants along the shore side. Very calm and beautiful. Many places to visit around. Boat ride along the river was fantastic. Mount Tamaro was very excellent. Thrilling sludge ride and rope rides were excellent. We went a for a trekking with Lama with children which was much enjoyed.
Did not have time to visit Brisago island. So will go again.

There are bus and boat connections to Locarno and also to Italy making it a perfect centre for exploring the area

The view from our hotel room was fantastic, the mountains, the lake, the buildings on the nearby shore, the outdoor restaurants opposite the hotel, the colour of everything told you that you were on holidays. We were there for the Swiss National Day celebration and the crowds then were terrific. The location of the hotel is fine being on the lake. It is only a 5 minute walk to the bus stop which takes you to Locarno and it's train station, which can take you anywhere. The hotel provides you with a free transport voucher for anywhere in the Canton. Also being on the lake you can take a ferry around the lake. We went as far as Stresa which is in northern Italy for lunch. The ferry is not free. We usually ate outdoors in the hotel restaurant but sometimes at other restaurants on the shore of the lake. An added bonus for us was that a pigeon was nesting in the flower pot attached to our balcony and she had a baby and in the week we were there we watched her feeding it, and sharing it's feeding with her mate. We could also see how quickly it grew with the development of it's pin feathers.
There is nothing we would avoid.
I wasnt expecting much given the star rating of the hotel but I was positively surprised to find a comfortable and clean room, with a partial view to the lake, silent enough at night to leave the windows open (important during this particularly hot summer - a ventilator was helping too), and a great location close to the main promenade by the lake maggiore. Besides, the breakfast was amazing. Good value for what was payed, considering the expensive country.
Very Friendly, Professional & also a bit of family atmosphere thats why you feel very comfortable and welcome. All the staff were exceptional and top but the young lady at the Reception with long dark brown hair, who makes the first impression for the hotel was the absolute best. Shedid her job excellent without her it would not had been the same. I am also receptionist in Lucerne. This Lady should get a salary of minimum 250fr more per month.
We had a very pleasant stay at the Apartment al Lido in Ascona. The studio was super clean, the kitchen perfectly equipped and the bed very comfy. You are located super close to the supermarkt, the busstation to get to Locarno and also to the lake and Piazza of Ascona with all the cafés and restaurants. Also was the communication perfect between the owners and us - thank you again for the perfect stay!
It was wonderful to have a balcony with a table and chairs overlooking the center of Ascona's waterfront. Our room was large and very clean. Not fancy and somewhat austere, but comfortable with two chairs, lots of closet space and a large tub/shower. We arrived in Locarno by train and were able to get within a 5 minute walk of the hotel using the B1 bus from the train station.
Staff is super nice and personable, very pleasant experience, excellent position within Ascona old town, very close to bus and waterfront, breakfast is excellent, rooms are not overtly large but very tidy and well accommodated for all of your needs. the owners really go well beyond what is required to help make your stay tranquil and easy
Loved the location, the room, the breakfast. Also liked the clear and easy checkin and parking info. Hotel is in a pedestrian zone, so the specific info about how to bring a car in to unload luggage for checkin, and where to park was really important. Directions were easy to follow, and the technology worked great.
Charming hotel in the center of Ascona with wonderful breakfast. The room was great and comfortable and had everything you needed. We ended up prolonging our stay for one more night and while it wasn't possible for us to keep the same room, the staff were able to provide us with another one.
My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay at Garni Golf! Very friendly atmosphere, clean and nicely arranged room, tasty breakfast. The location is absolutely perfect for visiting Ascona and also just a short walk away from a bus stop to go and visit Locarno. Highly recommended!
It was a very nice place to stay! We loved our room and the big bathroom. We didn’t even notice that it was a shared bathroom. It was in the centre of ascona and only a few minutes walk away from the promenade.
The breakfast was included and there was something for everyone.

The hotel was excellent with friendly and efficient staff . the location was brilliant and we would definitely stay there next time we visit Ascona. The small bar was particularly nice and the terrace has a superb view.

The rooms were very clean, the breakfast was nice, the staff that help us with the check in was amazing super professional and very frendly!
