Trailsman Lodge, hotel in Baddeck

Located on Highway 105, along the shores of Bras d’Or Lake, this motel has a private beach and is one km west of the entrance to the Cabot Trail.

Rooms need updating and bit more attention to cleaning. Our room was hot and stuffy when we arrived. It took awhile to get it ventilated and difficult to keep fresh air flowing. The window on the screen door did not slide open. When we used the microwave it tripped the breaker. We were able to reset it ourselves from our room. A nice view of the lake with the back balcony and chairs to enjoy the view of the water. The pool was in no condition to take a swim. Breakfast was 5/10.

This was our second stay in Baddeck.

This was our second stay in Baddeck. We enjoyed the closeness of being in town. A visit to the Alexander Bell Museum is a must. The Cabot Trail is a most beautiful place to visit. The views, the hikes, the unique Scottish heritage are all worth the stay!!

Baddeck is an interesting town with many good restaurants and a few shops. We loved the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and attended an interesting play in the little theatre there. We had our best meal in Nova Scotia in the Cable Room at The Telegraph House Motel and loved our breakfasts across the street at the Highwheeler Café. The townspeople were very friendly and the views of the lake are gorgeous.

Baddeck is a really quaint town, full of character and walkable. I recommned visiting here for sure. The harbour is lovely, There are some good restaurants, especially The Telegraph Motel which just provides dinner service. The Alexander Graham Bell Museum is phenomenal. We only stayed one day and one more would have been better to just take it in and relax here.

Baddeck is a quaint and charming town.

Baddeck is a quaint and charming town. The museum showcasing Alexander Graham Bell is excellent. The nightly traditional Celtic music concerts are wonderful. The town is a great base for eastern Cape Breton Island and a short drive from North Sydney if you're taking the ferry to Newfoundland.

We took a lake cruise that was enjoyable and informative - highly recommend Amoeba Tours Winstar. Nice marina area and it was lively with boaters & diners. The lake is beautiful! Several restaurants to choose from for dinner at the marina & downtown, and there were options for live music entertainment. Not as much to see as I expected, but it was attractive. The lake cruise made this stop on our way to the Cabot Trail worthwhile.

The location of the inn was perfect - close to restaurants, the wharf where you could take a cruise, and close to the Cabot Trail. It was well maintained, a restaurant right at the inn, areas to sit outside to enjoy the views. We had a lovely stay.

The Telegraph house is a quaint and comfortable place to stay right in the middle of downtown Baddeck, close to great coffee shops, the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and other amenities. It is a few minutes walk from the marina and restaurants. My favourite place to stay in Baddeck. Sean always makes me feel welcome and there is a great restaurant in the main lodge that serves farm to table.

Very decent breakfast included. Pretty well standard what you’d expect. Very busy weekend and they were fully booked, but everything got restocked regularly. Rooms are clean, friendly staff, location was great. Dinner at the hotel was a nice bonus… the curry was fantastic, and far more decent prices than a lot of places in Baddeck!

The location of this motel is great, on the water, with great views. While the property is a bit worn, the rooms are priced accordingly and the space was comfortable. Staff was friendly and generous with information about the area, including eating spots in nearby Baddeck.
