Travellers who stayed in Rio de Janeiro near Rio de Janeiro/Galeao International Airport (GIG) have said good things about Linx Galeão, Capri Hotel and Matiz Multi Suites.
Home of samba, Brazil’s 2nd largest city is sassy, seductive and spectacular. The Rio Carnival is legendary the world over for outrageous costumes and infectious rhythms.
Host of the 2014 World Cup final in Maracanã stadium and the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, Rio de Janeiro is forward-thinking. High rises line Ipanema beach and you can find dozens of rollerbladers on the promenades at any time.
The hottest spot is Copabacana, a great place to try biscoito globo, a typical Rio beach snack. Sip a caipirinha here while the sun sets over the bay and mountains – unforgettable. It doesn’t end there though. Clubbing in Rio is fantastic and ranges from techno to traditional bossa nova. Bohemian beats can be found in Santa Teresa and Lapa, whose trams pass over a double-arched viaduct.
Overlooking all this from Corcovado mountain is iconic Christ the Redeemer, welcoming the world to Rio with arms outstretched. Take the funicular railway up to this statue on the edge of lush Tijuca Park for incredible views. Accessed by cable car, Sugar Loaf Mountain is also not to be missed.
Rio de Janeiro Airport is well linked to the ‘Marvellous City’, but traffic can be manic, so leave enough time to reach it from your Rio hotel, apartment or hostel booked through Booking.com.

Before the praise, a word of warning, never walk with the phone in your hand. Always deep in underwear. yes. Not in a bag/backpack.
After you are careful, start enjoying, a beautiful and interesting city with amazing views, don't miss the museum of Calatrava (for all ages)

We went for a short break and loved the clean beaches with easy access to a ice cold coconut water, perfect after a walk on the beach or catching some sun. The sights can be a bit crowded but the queues flowed. We had a lovely visit to Christ the Redeemer and a Brazilian samba show. We went to relax so enjoyed the beaches and sampled a variety of foods. Getting around by Uber was cheap and convenient. There was a bit of traffic during rush hour but if you time your outings it should be quite pleasant. It was our first time but we'll definitely go back.

Rio is like nowhere else on earth.
Rio is like nowhere else on earth. It is a stunningly beautiful city, set between the mountains and the sea, with Atlantic rainforest spilling down into historic 'bairros' of Portuguese-influenced streets and through new suburbs. The cariocas - natives of Rio - are among the friendliest and most charming people in the world. The food is fantastic, with a strong influence from other states such as Minas Gerais, Bahia and those in the south of the country. With the metro and bus extensions, transport around the city is good - and there is music on almost every street corner. Go up Corcovado to Cristo Redentor in the morning, and up Pão de Açucar in the afternoon, for the best light - and if the weather is good, you will never forget those views.

I might have had a different opinion if I was 20 years-old with no kids, but this time I just think Rio is very overrated. I should have stayed in Buzios much longer.
The traffic was crazy, motorcycles honked all the time, and I felt like 20 seconds away from a car crash all the time. They are charging 25 reais for juice, people are always hustling and trying to rob you blind, I fell for the tourist trap of taxi at the airport and paid 180 for a trip that would cost 40 by Uber. It is really not worth it.
The best thing was a day trip to Jardim Botanico, that is it.

Rio is an iconic city, with so much to see and do, whatever the weather, and we had 2 days of rain during our trip! As first time visitors, we were nervous due to the UK media, and safety concerns. We were absolutely blown away by the city, the people, had an amazing time. Yes, you need to be careful, but just like visiting any big city across the world, including the Uk.

The hostel is in an excellent part of Rio with easy access to the Metro for the city as a whole. The area is safe even at night and we never had any issues!
The facilities are great and the staff are super friendly!
Some people complain about the steps - they are not that bad. About six flights up which is tough with your bags in the heat, but no reason not to book this amazing hostel!
Remember this is a hostel, if you are looking for luxury there are plenty of overpriced hotels in Copacabana!
Say hello to the Macau!
The hotel is in a great location at Ipanema if that's where you want to be. Right on the beach, very close to lots of bars, restaurants and shops. A short walk to the metro.
Great location is you want to be close to the beach, but easy enough to get around to other locations in Rio. Walking distance to Copacabana.
The breakfasts were just amazing. A great spread and the staff are all great.
Shout out to Marcio and Thiago at the from desk who were so helpful.
This was our first visit and location perfect for that.
Nothing. It wan an absolute nightmare. The house keeping only came every day to make the bed and go. They didn't even sweep the floor or clean the bathroom. it was so disgusting. Couldn't even give us tissue for the toilet. what a disgrace. This place should be shut down. I have come a few times to Rio and stayed in Copacabana palace hotel, Miramar by Windsor, JW Marriott Hotel Rio de JaneiroCopacabana, Sofitel Rio De Janeiro Ipanema and NEVER have I BEEN treated soooo POORLY.
For a more relaxed reclusive experience of Rio. I highly recommend you come here. It's not just an accommodation. You have two pools and a restaurant. Multiple work spaces are available to utilise. Plus, arranged activities throughout the week.
You're right next to the cable car that goes to Christ the Redeemer. And the neighbourhood is safe. You're only a 10 min Uber from famous locations in Rio like Copacabana, Leblon, Ipanema, and Lapa. Definitely come back 100%.
The breakfast was great, shower and bed very good also. The location of the Hotel is very good too, very nearby Ipanema beach, about 20 min walk, and right at Copacabana Beach, plenty of restaurants and bars around.
