I have stayed in Port many time but always with family prior to this occasion. It is a beautiful town with gorgeous beaches and many historical features, there is not much more to want, it has most facilities. Always love Port, with its many restaurants, wonderful clubs and sporting facilities. Wildlife in abundance in Port, one of the few places you might just see animal in the wild, make sure you look up in the gum trees, you might just get a surprise.

Call a place paradise and kiss it goodbye. PMQ case in point
Call a place paradise and kiss it goodbye. PMQ case in point
Pros
- The beaches would be among the best in the world.
- Greenery
- Nature attractions/urban wildlife
- Improvements on waterfront world class
- Beach walkway from Town to Lighthouse beach amazing.
Cons
- Roads are simply appalling in many places, just pothole covers holding hands and a should be a real embarrassment to local council, though looks in places they have started fixing the problem
- High elderly and low socio-economic population, kind of depressing local population
- Population/development explosion, high rents and tariffs
- Lots of hoons and bogans, exercise vigilance late at night
- Increasingly visible homeless problem
- Town is over promoted and exploited, certainly not a place to "get away from it all" anymore, its got plenty of what you came to escape, best to come outside of public and school holidays, always some pesky "festival" or event going on blocking roads and causing chaos
- Not a quaint fishing/holiday destination anymore
- If you strike a "Red Weed" season on your holiday, any beach-river activities are ruined.
-Service in most establishments is terrible

Happy and helpful staff at motel and EI restaurant.
Happy and helpful staff at motel and EI restaurant. The comfiest bed 🫠 you could ask for and walking distance to river, beach, restaurants and shopping centre. Given Free coffees upon book in for breakfast was a lovely bonus. 😊
Only disappointment was upgraded to balcony for the treat of the view of the river as shown in picture. We had a view of a car park. 😟

The Bowling Club was located at the back of the apartment building and only a short stroll away. Perfect place for dinner. Also love the restaurant at Westport for dinner. We have been there numerous times and never disappointed.
We have stayed in PM numerous times and always love coming back. Great accommodation, walks, beach and cafes. The Sea Acres Rainforest is definitely worth a visit and the food at the Cafe is lovely.

Nice Getaway.
Nice Getaway.
You can do Jet Ski at $240 per hour, and can swap drivers.
Sea Plane ride was good, but not comfortable.
Book a day in advance else you have to come back next day.
One thing is food is expensive in the place.
Quite modern hotel in downtown MacQuarie with ample parking (garage and courtyard). We had a very friendly welcome and there was another guy from the staff we encountered several times and who was always willing to tell us something about the town or the animals we had seen around. The room was third floor, reachable by elevator and nice and comfortable. Comfy beds and a big bathroom. There's also a Cafe in the hotel that serves a nice breakfast. The hotel is in walking distance to everything in downtown and at the waterfront.
We had an exceptionally clean and comfortable 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment on the 8th floor overlooking the ocean and the river, an amazing view from the 2 bedrooms and the loungeroom, and we saw the most divine sunrise. It is such a beautiful memory of Port Macquarie. The staff were very friendly and the apartments were close to the beach and the shopping centre
The location was ideal, with restaurants, pubs, bars, parklands and water frontage all right outside the hotel. We even saw a dolphin whilst sitting at our breakfast table overlooking the inlet. The room was spacious and immaculate with a very large and comfortable bed. Staff were also friendly and efficient. Will always stay at Rydges when in Port Macquarie.
What is now becoming our overnight stop when we head up to the Gold Coast, this is perfect.
A quiet location, staff friendly as always, the rooms are spotlessly clean as always.
Beds are comfy and shower very good.
A 15minute walk to the waterfront and food in the Port Macquarie Hotel highly recommended.
Great hotel in the heart of Port Macquarie for those who prioritise being outside in the cafes, by the river and browsing the shops. Walking distance to almost everything. The staff were very polite and helpful, accommodating my request for a particular floor to make the most of the water view.
The room was extremely clean, the bed linen of high quality and the bed very comfortable. Check in was easy and Covid smart. Staff/manager was friendly and efficient. I will stay again on my next trip north as I have finally found the perfect motel at a great price in Port Macquarie
We were surprised that the apartment was massive very spacious, everything was perfect, the balcony was a place my wife and I frequently used for meals the view was spectacular , Sandcastle Apartments is one accommodation place that should be on your list when in Port Macquarie.
Property was clean & comfortable. it was conveniently located to town and the the beach. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. I would gladly stay at Beach House Holiday Apartments again & have no hesitation in recommending to anyone staying in Port Macquarie.
All the facilities were up to the level you'd expect from a Rydges hotel. This particular one has the calmness of the waterfront over one side and the shopping options over the other one, perfectly located.
Excellent location and the hotel has recently ( past 2 to 3 years) been refurbished in an understated contemporary style. The staff in the Boathouse restaurant are excellent and the food is 5 star!
This property is nice and simple. It's like Port Macquarie itself, straightforward. Not pretentious. It's not flash, and for the price who'd expect it to be? I'm not interested in flash anyway.
The apartment was basic but perfect for us as we only stayed one night. It was really good value and so cheap and perfectly located.
We didn't get chance to use the pool but it looked lovely.
great caring staff, great variety In breakfast and perfect location close to beach and all amenities. the property is well maintained for its age. I became a Rydges member straight away.
Hotel was cheap and I could park my new car in front of my room and keep an eye on it. The outside lights turned off around 9.30pm to stop people hanging around outside.
