The fridge didn't work properly and we had brought a lot of meat between the four of us. However, communication with the owners was very positive and they reimbursed us $50 for the inconvenience of buying ice and borrowing an esky to keep the meat for the rest of our stay. They were very apologetic and obliging. I would recommend purely based on the nice nature of the owners. The King size bed was very comfortable, and the bunk beds too. The two couches were great for four adult guests. There were extra fold out chairs in the wardrobe if needed and the outdoor chairs were handy for the morning sun. There were ample supplies, and the BBQ was a real bonus.

On the date I visited there was no one there, as in tourists. This is an area in which the locals find hard to suffer. It's a great place to visit but it's one of those places that have been impacted by outside interests. Ordinary folks like teachers or road workers can't afford to live here. Yet, when the tourists and 2nd or 3rd home owners come rolling in they expect the world on their plate.
At Bannisters they promote Rick Stein. Rick is an English fish n chippy guy made famous by his exposure on the telly. Nothing speaks worse of a region that can't promote it's local values, people & places over a washed up fried fish chef from England... pretentious is what that amounts to.

Great place with many activities to enjoy. Quirky boutique shops and delicious food options, including Italian, pizza, pie shop, fish and chips, burgers, seafood and the lolly shop. Whale watching is lovely in the winter months. Beautiful walking tracks and views.

Lots of calm beach’s for the not so confident in the surf or you are within a 15 minute drive to a surf beach.

To comercial .
To comercial . Local council likes to jam parking meters everywhere you go so they can milk money out you, this totally discourages stopping anywhere to visit local shops. The boat ramps even had metered parking , people would like to have an unlimited day out in their boat and not be concerned about how much it will cost. Disgusting greed.

The whole area is beautiful, with many beautiful beaches, waterways and National Parks. Whether you want to swim, bushwalk, bird watch, get into photography, go boating, dive, explore, whale or dolphin watch, visit nearby islands or just simply relax, Nelson Bay/ Port Stephens Area is awesome. It has Great places to dine, my favourites Sirenas Seaside at d'Albora Marina, The Deck at Soldiers Point and Bubs Seafood also at the marina. My last holiday there, I really needed to relax. I had 9 days of perfect weather, ocean swimming, beach and bush walking everyday. Getting pampered at Sirene Spa Shoal Bay everyday, either with massages or sauna and spa.
The property was well situated between Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay. Quiet suburban area with easy walks to beaches and the local Diggers RSL Club, with its above average portions, certainly value for money and friendly staff. The property itself was extremely clean and the living areas were spacious, equipped with a large bathroom and laundry as well as an open plan kitchen and lovely balcony and indoor entertaining area perfect for a family or couple to sit and enjoy at the end of a long day at the beach.
This was an excellent townhouse for our family to have a small fun holiday after Christmas. Large spacious open-plan living and dining room. A great outdoor patio with BBQ. Easy walk to little beach. It's a twenty minute walk to Nelson Bay. Easy walk to Wests Diggers. This is a great spot for a holiday far away from the crazy crowds in the center or Nelson Bay.
LOVED THE LOCATION. WALKING DISTANCE FROM RESTAURANTS SHOPS AND ALL AMENTITIES IN NELSON BAY. WE WERE UPGRADED TO AN APARTMENT OVERLOOKING THE BAY WHICH WE DID NOT EXPECT BUT APPRECIATED. HAD BREAKFAST AT THE NEL CAFE ONSITE WHICH WAS EXCELLENT. GREAT STAFF IN BOTH THE HOTEL AND CAFE EAGER TO PLEASE. WE WILL RETURN.
We chose the property based on location and the availability of 2 single beds and 1 queen bed which was perfect for our family who are both older children. The parking facilities onsite were also perfect as it was in the open and caters for higher vehicles like 4WD's or Utes that are higher than standard vehicles.
The room was very spacious. The bathroom was also a good size and for once had more than adequate lighting. Its not a brand new hotel but had a vaguely "old world" charm. Everything was spotlessly clean. The location is good although a short climb from Nelson Bay and the marina.
My friend and I had a lovely time at this property. The house is super organised, clean and cosy. Location is great, just a 13-min to the beach and grocery stores at a walking distance.
The host was super friendly and responsive!
I highly recommend!
It was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed and even more. The house is also well furnished and decorated. It was very close to shops and Beaches. Would go there again and again.🙂
everything. Great location and comfortable bed. The heated pool was very inviting and I am sorry that I never used it more, but due to the location we took the ferry to Tea Gardens and enjoyed the local Nelson Bay offerings.
Tallean Hideaway is fresh, stylish and immaculate with so many thoughtful and unexpected extra touches. It’s a short walk and even shorter drive into beautiful Nelson Bay shopping, cafes and beaches.
Lovely boutique motel, clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Reasonably well located - easy 15-20 min walk to either Nelson Bay shops/restaurants or Shoal Bay shops/restaurants.
Very handy location: easy 900m stroll to Shoal Bay, out of the hustle of Nelson Bay central area (located perfectly between the two bays). Friendly staff at check in. Security cameras.
The cleanliness was outstanding! Every gadget you could need was in the property. Location was perfect, halfway between Shoal Bay and Nelson Bay. Also beach access is right there.
Location was good, central to the town and marina . The view of Nelson Bay was spectacular from our penthouse suite. The apartment was clean and spacious.
