At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laidback Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s arty South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just opposite is the towering skyline of Brisbane's CBD, where many hotels in Brisbane city centre are located.
Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. More shopping centres are found all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.
This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south you can hug one of the loveable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.
Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks – Wickham Park – contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the north-east, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.
As well as central accommodation, Booking.com also offers hotels near Brisbane Airport in a north-eastern coastal suburb.
The hotel was exactly as it was advertised. It was clean the manager was very friendly and helpful. Room are old but comfortable enough. This isn’t a 5 star resort so you need to be prepared for the basics. It was very convenient to all we needed. Shared bathroom is really the only drawback. Very good for low budget accommodation

Brisbane is very hilly so if you are disabled it is quite difficult to get around. The public transport is good, but hard to get onto when you have trouble walking due to a lot of stairs. Also very difficult to get ubers and taxis to pick up from city addresses.

We stayed in what would be considered the business district, just across the river to the South Side, which was within walking distance and had a wonderful riverside walking area, botanical garden, remnants of their World Expo, and museums. In a different direction, there was a closed street mall (where you could walk between buildings filled with shops and food stops). Every time we went out, we found free concerts and music: a singing competition, the Queensland Youth Orchestra, and even a free concert in the City Hall by the only Brass Orchestra in Australia. At one point, we even heard bagpipe music in the distance!
Walking around felt safe. The people at the Information centers were very helpful as well, and offered several maps, including a walking map with four options and help with any transportation questions. We opted to take a day tour to the Australia zoo, which was very reasonably priced and extremely impressive. All-iin-all it was the best ending to our time in Australia!

We were near Howard Smith Wharves which we had never been to. They were interesting though way overpriced for everything they offered. The area around was lots of coffee shops and a couple of small supermarkets. The river walk was great and we enjoyed it at night as we headed out for dinner then returned. Felt very safe at all times.

Lots of things to do in Brisbane, plus it is centrally located between the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast and also the Hinterland, with such places as Mount Tamborine and also Montville and Malaney are all just a day trip away . On the negative side it cost me a fortune in Road Toll fees and the traffic is horrendous.

The accommodation was great for what we wanted.
The accommodation was great for what we wanted. However, it stated we were staying in one building, but they booked us into a different block, and there was no off street parking as advertised on the booking. com website.
We had a nine day stay here. The real benefit of these apartments is genuine value for money and location close to Southbank and West End precincts. The apartment was modern and roomy; the bathroom good; the bed comfortable. We learnt not to expect services, not much in the way of kitchen utensils etc, and to replenish our own basic supplies eg toilet paper. The location is close to Southbank, and also rather noisy (but you can close the balcony doors and restore some quiet.)
The rooms are 4 star - newly renovated, modern, new aircon units, lovely bathrooms, comfy beds, useful kitchenette. We were met at reception by a very friendly smiling fellow. There is a free car park and the location is perfect for enjoying Victoria Park or driving into the CBD or Southbank. We have stayed in many more expensive CBD apartments (paying $40/day to park) but no more...this will be our 'go-to' now!
Hotel Alpha was a really great place to stay located super close to everything! Definitely the place to be if you're after accommodation within the city heart. All staff were super friendly & helpful + we had a huge room with a really comfortable bed. Also the block out curtains are a huge win if you like a sleep-in or even if you've had a big night out in fortitude valley.
Great location near Brisbane city centre. If taking the AirTrain from the airport, the hotel is near both Roma Street and Central stations. Roma Street station is a bit closer and the walk is on more level ground, so I would recommend using Roma Street station.
Staff were very friendly, and complimentary hand sanitiser was a nice bonus given the present times.
The apartment was so handy to Fish lane which has lots of local restaurants, bars and cafes as well as short stroll to South Bank, West End and the Brisbane CBD. For theatre goers it's a 2-minute walk to catch your favourite show & you can indulge in as many before and after drinks as you like with a quick stroll back to the apartment.
Great location with stunning views. Handy to the Southbank Parklands and other walking paths - eg. Kangaroo cliffs; Botanic Gardens.
Easy walk to many eating places and about 15 minute walk into the CBD (otherwise can catch the free Kitty Cat ferry which departs from the jetty just below the apartments)
What a fabulous grand old hotel! Olde world charm but beautifully renovated and presented. Spacious apartment room with kitchenette and washing / drying machines. Comfortable bed with blanket, not doona. Hot shower. Quiet. Convenient to everything in Brisbane CBD. Good eating nearby. Courteous staff.
The best thing about this hotel is the central location in Brisbane CBD and short walk to both Roma Street and Central Train Stations for visitors who are travelling. This is a great location to explore Brisbane city on foot.
Huge new TV in room.
The room was clean.
Clean, comfortable, and safe. Free, inside parking. Free laundry facilities. Walkable neighborhood. (PA stands for Princess Anastasia. The apartments are directly across the street from a hospital of the same name.) Quick drive to the Brisbane CBD.
Was a great location, close to activities on Southbank and ease of access to Brisbane CBD
Perfect Apartment for short or longer stay with great kitchen are and washing facilities.
Most places charge for parking so free parking was excellent.
The location was excellent. Right on the Brisbane river and next to the Botanical gardens. Walking distance to Southbank and the CBD. The on-site restaurant was very nice, good view and delicious food. Nice view from the room.
Location great, supermarkets nearby, close to train, plenty of decent food and beverage options nearby, within walking distance of CBD, close to Southbank, Convention Centre, Museum etc, major bonus - free parking
This hotel is a little gem right in the middle of the city! Lovely staff, well equipped rooms and an excellent pool area. We were able to walk to Southbank, Riverside and the heart of the CBD in no time.
The location was excellent for both the CBD and Southbank. The hotel room was spacious, clean and the walk-in shower was wonderful. The staff were lovely and helpful too.
