Location and walking distance to town center. All resorts in close proximity.
A reasonable amount of eating places considering you are in the middle of the desert.
Perfectly positioned to make the most of the Australian outback, Sails in the Desert is just a 5-minute walk from the Uluru (Ayers Rock) lookout and is a great spot to take in the desert sunrise or...

So great having space where we stayed as we spent quite a bit of time in the apartment while it was raining and activities were cancelled. Very spacious! Sofa bed was also comfortable which was a plus. Kitchen was well equipped. Loved our stay!

Palya!!
Palya!! Outback Lodge Ayers Rock Resort is in a town called Yallara amongst the Anangu people. Close to Shell Petrol station ($2.98/Ltr 91 Unleaded), Few minutes drive from IGA Shop in the town centre. I recommend booking for Field of Lights, Wintjiri Wiru drone show (weather permitted) and Helicopter scenic flight around Uluru and Kata Tjuta ($315 per person for 25 min flight).
Kata Tjuta is a 45 to 50min drive and has various hiking routes. Recommend some hikes while your there Valley of the Winds which is 7km hike from carpark. Resort has a wonderful viewing of Ayers rock close to Outback lodge perfect for Sunrise and Sunset. Camel Farm is near by outback Lodge, it also has a free museum for you to visit. Recommend booking a sunrise or sunset camel ride.
Swimming pool is clean at the resort, freezing in the month of May. There is a communal kitchen with Fridge and Microwave. There is a Bar and BBQ which you can buy your meat and cook yourself. Steaks from $45 with unlimited Salad bar. Live music in evening. Has a Pizza shop across the Bar which also sells chicken nuggets n chips and Fish n Chips. Overall it is a good place for Famiies and Couples .

Truly spiritual and overwhelming experience.
Truly spiritual and overwhelming experience. It's a pity most Aussies have not visited this place. Best to drive yourself so you can take your time and make your own schedule. Every viewing point is set up well and signposted for easy access.
You can easily spend 2 days driving around the rock, witnessing sunrise and sunset with their own unique vistas.
Evening dinner with lights event although overpriced was a beautiful experience due to the stars and the astronomer who showed the constellations. Much betwer than the bunch of solar usb powered bulbs on a springy stalk.
Tip- a fly net on your face is dorky but a must!

Loved the aat kings tours and astro tour and hop on hop off bus trips. Loved the spiritual energy of the rock uluru. Loved walking around the rock and photographing it. Loved being outdoors near the rock and olgas the best. Loved the lunches at geckos cafe and souvenir shops too. The magnificent uluru rock and spiritual feeling and being outdoors in close proximity to uluru, the beautiful desert and warm to hot sunny days, no clouds in the sky was the best. Aat kings sunset tours and aat kings mala walk and drive around uluru and astro skies tour were the best, highlights of my holiday.

Most of the essentials are within the vicinity, staff and residents are friendly, however most of the activities that need tickets are expensive. The staff made changes with no fuss just to accommodate our requests (bookings)

We filled out 2.5 days with tours at dawn and in the nights and went to classes in the town square in between. We walked around all the resorts and ate meals at different places to experience many of them. It's very easy to walk around the resorts or catch the free circuit bus. We thought we would have gone on longer walks around Uluru and Kata Tjuṯa if we had a couple more days to stay.
it has everything you need. from towels, toiletries, kitchen equipment ( fab for your own cooking)milk, coffee, tea, sugar, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, large tower fan in the bedroom as well as air con ( throughout). beautiful balcony and 5 mins from the resort centre, which has everything and the pool at sails in the desert is wonderful. it’s incredibly spacious and mega clean. love it. the best ❤️
Great location in Ayers Rock Resort, right next to the supermarket and a few restaurants/shops there. The pool is great for relaxing.
The headboard for the bed was fantastic, with a little shelf right above your heads with chargers where you can rest your phone/ other electronics - a really convenient little detail that I really enjoyed
The whole of Ayers Rock resort was great, close to viewpoints to see the surrounding area (Uluru). The pick up from the airport and subsequent drop off. The "town centre" itself provided lots of food options as well as some shops. The hotel itself was great and the staff were great. The day trips were great too and well organised.
I loved my stay at Sails in the Desert and the room had everything that I needed - and more! I especially love the dual power shower and satin sheets. My only regret is that I did not allow time to enjoy the hotel's restaurant, swimming pool, and other facilities. A very enjoyable stay that I would highly recommend to others.
