I understand there are plenty of walking routes at Semmering but the purpose of my visit was to view the UNESCO trans alpine railway on the eastern grade. I was lucky to be blessed with a full sun cloudless day. Plenty of trains made for a great experience.

Little but tiny place for skiing and walking/cycling.
Little but tiny place for skiing and walking/cycling. Not many shop and restaurant but clear and nice. If you book be sure, that you can have a dinner and where, if the hotel does not have a restaurant you might drive to Gloggnitz. Stuhleck is close which has more ski slopes and well daily maintained. Usually dogs are accepted and you can make good walks also.

We have been to Semmering many many times before and would recommend and urge people to visit. This time we hired a car from Vienna due to flight times but if possible, I recommend highly the train journey. Very easy access from the airport to the SudBahnhof and the holiday starts here as the historic railway journey includes stunning scenery, especially so when snow covered and spectacular tunnels and viaducts through the mountains. Cannot recommend this more, see for yourself. Semmering itself is peaceful, friendly, historic and stunning and if you are not a skier then have a go at the toboggan run....soooo much fun. Good snowy woodland walks too to burn off the excess calories which you may be subject too if you eat at the highly recommended Belvedere restaurant. Dont pass this by!

I'm reccuring to Semmering, still love it.
I'm reccuring to Semmering, still love it. Sometimes it's crowdy, sometimes it's enjoyable (this time Saturday was nearly unbearable and Sunday was wonderful). I've learnt already not to go there in February due to ski holidays, this time Saturday was a surprise.

Before going to Semmering make sure the ski resort is working. In google it says its working but actually its not. Contact the resort directly. I went there week before it opened to public. There is noting much to do there if the mountain is not open. The nature is very nice to walk around and enjoy. There is a small kids hill for sleds and stuff. Its perfect for a small group of adults, if you have small kids with you you will find it hard to get transport.
The owners were the absolute best. They went above and beyond to make sure our large group was taken care of. They even mailed us some ski clothing we had left behind. The rooms were comfortable and I really appreciated their efforts to help us disconnect and enjoy the space. The location was stunning! We went in January and the hills were beautiful but I could see how it would equally gorgeous in the summer months.
Superb extended weekend stay with a most lovely host, with a bright, spacious and pleasingly designed room in a historic building overlooking the Semmering mountains. Highlight each morning was the excellent, lovingly presented breakfast with an amazing selection of homemade marmalades and jams. Definitely a recommendation!
Nice hotel, cute staff, clear room and hotel, delicious foods, great breakfast, good for 1-2 night but more also. Has a fancy welness part, they welcome dogs also. Opposite Semmering ski slope but also close Stuhleck, you are allowed to put your ski things in a warm place. Has own restaurant for dinner as well.
Absolutely great accomodation ❤️ The owner and his family was super nice and helpful.
The room was furnitured in beautiful wooden style, we felt there comfortable as at home. The place is near center of Semmering - app 20 min by foot. The sauna in hotel was pleasant addition. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Superb room very comfortable beds with lovely view and very clean bathroom! Delicious and fresh breakfast, staff are friendly and helpful. Very quiet street ( we love that )
Location is 1 hour drive from Vienna so fantastic for short ski break.
I would definitely recommend :)
The hotel couldn't have a better location. The rooms are spacious, comfortable. The receptionist was also very nice and friendly. We stayed during off-season but seems like it would be great for skiing as well since the ski lift (which runs during summer also) is steps away
Perfect location, the ski lifts the practice tracks, restaurants, Billa are all within 5 minutes walking away. The apartment is cozy, well equipped and spacious, our view on the mountains was majestic. The hosts were really nice and flexible with our late arrival.
Location near two ski centers - Semmering (walking distance) and Stuhleck (10 minutes by car) with plenty of running trails for early morning.
Hotel has nice view, great breakfasts. Rooms are standard small hotel rooms - bed, table, shower, window.
Amazing place, big house, comfortable rooms, common big areas for activities for big companies, kitchen with all facilities for stay. Sauna and 2 toilets. Very good owner. They have ski boots and skies for rent. Have a parking places for cars.
The location of the hotel is amazing. It is right next to the ski slopes and from our room, we had a view over the whole valley. The staff is accommodating and friendly. It was our second time this season and they greeted us as friends.
Situated high across from the ski slopes, it offers a great view of the slopes on one side, and of the mountain ranges on the other. Breakfast was great, rooms and facilities well-maintained. No complaints!
The location is ideal for skiing, right next to the lifts and in the middle of the small town. The breakfast was very nice, and the lady working during the breakfast as well. The new guy was also friendly.
Very close to ski lift.
Receptionist is very friendly and communicative. It was extra fun to try to speak German after more than 15 years.
