Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart
International Airport. Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus.
The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.
The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.
The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.
The whole of Salzburg and surrounding areas are a joy.
The whole of Salzburg and surrounding areas are a joy. The city itself has so many historic and interesting buildings and places to visit. The town centre is a joy to walk around with so many shops and sights. The bus service is fabulous and you can get to many places on the outskirts of the city at a reasonable cost. Look carefully where you choose to eat because there are some places that are a lot more expensive than others but not necessarily better. Buy a Salzburg card to get the best value for visiting sites of interest and without doubt take a cable car journey to the top of the surrounding mountains for absolutely stunning scenery. Take ice cramps for your footwear if it is snowy because the well trodden paths, which are not salted, can become compacted and extremely slippery. Do visit places like Wolgangsee, Mondsee and St.Gilgen to name a few of the prettiest villages.

Great place to explore.
Great place to explore. I love the city walk, fortress and museum. People were quite friendly and helpful. Its quite convenient to travel to hillside and a lot of them beautiful places are within the range of 100KM but the only problem is Traffic and Speed limit of 60, 80 & 100KM on most of them highways. Food is awesome, its easy to find Halal food.

Salzburg is full of culture, history, and the ever presence of Mozart. Film locations (Sound of Music and Where Eagles Dare) close by, friendly people, amazing food and music. Recommend the Brunnauer restaurant, and going to a concert at the Mirabeau Palace.

Salzburg was all that I imagined.
Salzburg was all that I imagined. Mountains and old buildings. It was very easy to get around Salzburg either walking or taking the trains and bus. Public transport is very good. People of Salzburg were very friendly and helpful with tourist. Most spoke English so it was not hard to move around. Old Town was picturesque with the Cathedral and lots of churches around with their dome like rooftop. The small streets in the corners of Salzburg had wonderful shops to browse. I loved all the pastries and cakes of Salzburg. The Sound of Music Tour was spectacular as it took us around and more.

Salzburg is a beautiful city, flush with pristine buildings,...
Salzburg is a beautiful city, flush with pristine buildings, good views and excellent music. Many highlights, best one was probably at 6:40am one morning in an abbey listening to ‘O Come O Come Emmanuel’ (well the German equivalent) wafting up from the crypt.
The city is full of mega expensive shops, so expect good shopping or decent people watching

The staff were so friendly, warm and helpful. They were happy to answer any questions I had about salzburg and gave me some good tips for my time there. The bed was super comfortable and the room and hotel was extremely clean. I felt very safe as a solo traveller staying here. The location is brilliant and within walking distance of cafes, restaurants and the old town.
Location of the hotel is good enough, it is 20 minutes away the city centre. The room was clean and tidy. Staff, especially the person that checked out us was really friendly and kind. He helped us and called uber because we need to go early on train. We send kind greetings to him! We would recommend this hotel for staying in Salzburg!
Great hotel, in the old town of Salzburg. The room is spacious, modern and clean. The bed was very comfortable, we slept very well. Ulrike, the host, warmly welcomed us and was very helpful with all the recommendation for things to do in our short stay in town. She really made our stay. Thank you, Ulrike. :)
The breakfast is superb in regards to food choice and the service of the staff. Location and view from the property are very serene the lake / the mountain tops . Each day when we went into the city centre of Salzburg we walked, very easy as the path is right outside the main gate of hotel.
1) Decent room, hotel by the river.
2) 1KM walk by the river to city centre - about 20 - 30mins walk.
3) About 10 - 15 Mins walk to Salzburg train station.
4) Aircon available in room.
