St Wofgang is a small, beautiful town situated right on the lake. A good amount of restaurants and shops. The town had a music festival and dance performance outside while we were there. Seems like there are always things going on at the weekend in the spring/summer. We enjoyed a boat ride on the lake, visited Hallstadt and the saltmines there, and took the cog railroad up the mountain for amazing views of the whole area. We stayed for five nights and it was perfect.

It is traditionally oriented to the Austrian culture and has incredible nature of the Wolfgang See surroundings...
We like St. Wolfgang so much and we will be here for many years in the future during our vacations.

St. Wolfgang is lovely but not pedestrian-friendly. The town is chopped up by a highway tunnel. The road from the Garni Buchinger hotel into the town is narrow, mostly with no sidewalks and pitch dark at night. There's a lot of traffic on this road making it unsafe for pedestrians. For this reason we had no choice but to drive the short distance into town each night for dinner.

St. Wolfgang is at the bottom of Schafberg and obvius choice to stay. Village is small, very, very nice (absolutely comparable and probably even nicer than nearby and well known Hallstat). Lake view is visible from almost every house, there are a lot of hotels, really nice shops and a lot of restaurants.
Like elsewhere in Austria, note that shops close early and restaurants close at 22h (.there is a single hotel bar opened until 24h, at least that was correct at the moment of our stay).
I had problems finding gluten free products (local supermarket only) and coffee shops which serve lactose free milk (single coffee shop).
Absolutely recommend st. Wolfgang and will likely come again at some point. There is a lot to see and do here.

Nice historical village.
Nice historical village. Possibility of excursions around the lake, sailing on the lake, hiking in the surrounding mountains. Prices in restaurants are higher, as are prices in hotels. It seems to me that some of them exaggerate. (both hotels and restaurants)

the city itself is very picturesque. On the main street there is a pleasant atmosphere - cafes, shops, in general, a resort. Unlike other similar towns, there are many trekking routes, any kind of water sports on the lake, a bus connection to nearby sights and very-very beautiful everywhere.
Cortisen am See is the best hotel we have ever experienced. Our room had a balcony overlooking the lake, the beds were quite comfortable, the shower terrific. The breakfast was superb and served in the hotel's lovely restaurant. The infinity pool is a gem. The location is excellent- located between the two St. Wolfgang docks. Good restaurants are on premises, right next door and one across the street. Lush landscaping in a wonderful town for bike riding and hiking.
The place has an old, yet rich feel. Dark wood floors, a huge room with a bed, bath and a beautiful room view to the lake.
The breakfast was the best I've had in Austria, and the staff was very accommodating.
We've also had dinner to celebrate our anniversary, and the dinner was amazing! Beautiful presentation and taste.
The place has a beach bar and a private beach, although when we stayed the lake temp was a bit cold to swim.

This is the nicest place I've stayed in since I've been in Austria. It is located nestled down beside a river about a 10 minute walk from the lake.
The location is ideal if you wish to walk up to the top of Schafberg as the route starts nearby or even to get the funicular which runs close by.
The room was very big and had a beautiful balcony that sat next to the stream that ran a little below. The views are also incredible, a must stay place.
- Big, well equipped and clean apartment
- Close to the start of local hiking routes (for example to Vormauerstein or Schwarzensee, unfortunately we didn’t have more free time to explore more places)
- Great view on the lake
- Very authentic and calm area, but the same time not far away from the St. Wolfgang center (20mins walk), very nice small town by the way

We had an amazing stay in this place! The view was super nice - right to the lake, very clean and spacious apartment, the landlords were very nice. They have also their own private access to the lake and there is amazing wellness&sauna place close to the accomodation. Also if you want to hike to Schafberg you can start from there, no need to drive to a different spot.
We loved everything about this place - the house, the location and the hospitality from the owner. Short walk to town with some lovely places to eat and drink, short walk to the lake with a fantastic private bathing area. The scenery is stunning, plenty of space in the room and the host was brilliant - definitely a highlight of our trip to Austria.

Super view from the window to the lake and mountains. Love the beach from the hotel. You can take saps, rent a bicycle or a catamaran. There is a place for car parking, good internet in the room. Convenient little kitchen in the room.
The hotel is located in a beautiful old building. Our rooms had an amazing lake view. Breakfast was probably the best I ever had.
The staff is super friendly and polite. Plenty of things to do in the area.
