Hotel Stecher is a traditional-style Austrian hotel, very clean & comfortable and only a short walk from the ski lift.
The couple who run it are both delightful & couldn't do enough during a stay with my family in early March 2024. Lothar's bar just outside the hotel ( run by the owner ) is a great spot for post-ski refreshment.
I will very definitely be coming back !

Suite is top, Super big bathtub for 2 ppl. The food both in the evening and in the morning was super. The bar is ok, do not expect a lot of fun at the bar, but the people who stay there are not typical apres ski party ppl.

Typical little town with lots of sports shops, local food...
Typical little town with lots of sports shops, local food and supermarkets. It is in an excellent location for those who want to travel in the Otzal Valley and other places.
We visited the area in the summer - so much opportunity to enjoy nature and do outdoor activities. We drove to the town of Imst where we hiked and climbed the mountain along the Rosenngartenschlucht all the way up the mountain to the Imst Alpine Coaster.
The next day we returned to ride the Alpine Coaster - in the summer it get busy so if you dont want to wait in line get ther early in the morning
We did a walking route through the wooden bridges and the forest to Piburger See. Nice palce to spend the day. The water were a little cold for us.
The Stuibenfall Umhausen waterfall is 20 minutes away drive - a must-do! Not an easy climb but the view from the top is simply worth the effort.
The Aqua Dome is also worth driving - you can get discount rate if you get there in the evening.

This was a lovely little area/town.
This was a lovely little area/town. Plenty of shops, eating places, etc. and many many walks. A good hop off point for the rest of the valley (main road to Obergurgl) and Area 47 (adrenaline experience - white water rafting, climbing, water park, etc.) just down the road. Also not far from Innsbruck.

To be fair Oetz by itself is a very small town.
To be fair Oetz by itself is a very small town. There are some nice restaurants there. We mainly used it as our sleeping base to access other areas of the Otz valley. Honestly, in retrospect I'd prefer sleeping in Soelden instead as most of the attractions that were relevant to us were in Soelden or nearby. Soelden is also a slightly bigger town that Oetz. We ate twice at the Cafe Heiner, there was great vibes there and live music on one of the nights. The food was also very good. Besides that the town is very close to the Piburger lake which we enjoyed visiting.

We stayed in September 2019. Dorli and her husband were extremely kind and helpful, always prepared to answer any questions and on hand to help with any queries, nothing is too much trouble. Dorli really cares that guests enjoy their stay, so if you have any issues, you only need to ask or tell her. We certainly look forward to returning in March.
We really liked everything at this Hotel. The Staff were so friendly and the hotel owners were always present. This made our stay so cozy. What was as well great, was the restaurant staff, they already knew after one day, what we want to drink (still or sparkling water, espresso, tea etc.) :-)

I was dropped off by the wrong location by the taxi driver. I called the host from the hotel and he picked me up, best service ever. The room was big, clean, nice and had everything you needed. Supermarket nearby and some nice restaurant. The complete environment in - & around Ötztal was above all my expectations, so beautiful.
Very clean, very comfortable, on walking distance from the ski lift 👌. Super friendly owner, daily cleaning of the house, very nice place for the children. Also Hochoetz is a perfect ski area with kids. For very young kids there's even a kindergarten available at the central ski area restaurant. Perfect holiday stay over.
it was the second time that we a( group of friends) stayed at this hotel.it is so very clean and each room has a patio with a breathtaking view of Alps.the personal are so KIND and Helpful .we would definitly come back next year.

It would be dishonest to call the hotel outdated. It ancient but as a quality. The old structures give it caracter and a great atmosphere. Georg the host would give you his last shirt if you needed one. I have never encountered a more helpfull host anywhere. We had a great time and Will surely coke back.
There are very comfortable rooms fully equipped in the hotel, modern and cozy design. The hotel is located 10 mins away from town centre and facilities. Tasty coffee like a compliment is available 24/7 in the first floor. We had such a great time, thank you!
This was one of the best hotels I ever stood in Tirol. Very well equipped apartment in a newly built house. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Hotel is located in a beautiful place. There is Pizzeria restaurant near, belonging the same family.
The apartment is superb, great location with a stunning view over Oetz and up the valley. The property worked well for the family. The space is really good, and the balcony gives more flexibility for use and a great space for in the evening.
Pretty much everything! We were visiting during the heat wave which was unusual for Tirol and the hotel has kindly provided a portable fan. Please note that it is uncommon to have air conditioning in Europe, especially in the mountains.
Hotel is located in an old building, makes you feel more at home than all the existing chain. You got a real room key, got double doors, creaky floor, mismatched coat hangers, modern bathroom. And a fully table setting for the breakfast
It’s in the heart of Oetz and in the middle of Innsbruck and Mittenwald, 35 minutes away. Hosts, Manuela and her daughter, Carolina, are sweet and took care of us. I’ll stay here again if i ever go back to Innsbruck or Mittenwald.
The hosts are great, very frendly and helped us to plan the trip. They privide a free oetz card as long as you stay in the hotel. The sauna is amazing. The house located in the center of the town, a lot of restaurants near by.
