Great option for access Hallstadt and Dachstein Krippenstein. The mountain views are stunning. The town is very quite and charming. Very few restaurants and only one grocery. The grocery was adequate, but expensive.

We stayed in Obertraun as a base to explore Halstatt but...
We stayed in Obertraun as a base to explore Halstatt but found as our trip got closer that there was a lot more to do in Obertraun and Halstatt than originally thought so our one night stay turned out to not be long enough. If I were booking again I would definitely stay two or three nights so we could explore the salt mines, walks and view points.

We stayed in Obertraum so we could take the ferry to go to Hallstatt by ferry. The ferry ride was amazing, heavenly peace and tranquil. However, we did not know enough about the area. We found out from the ferry driver that there was an ice cave nearby and a skywalk. We could include that in our future trip.

Obertraun is probably the best place for easy access to Hallstatt (besides being in Hallstatt itself). Bike rentals are easy and the bike ride to Hallstatt is also easy with very little elevation change. Lots of biking in the area.

Perfect location, fantastic view to Hallstatt and the mountains. Easy to reach Hallstatt even with bicycle, Dachstein and mountains are also very close. Lot's of things to see - easily can spend 2-3 days in the surroundings. Railway station and bus station is available - well connected.
If you want peace within Hallstatt Lake, Haus Am See is the best hotel for you. The place is very serene and neat. It is not just at the center of Hallstatt town but very accessible to train, boat and bus stop.
We even had to request an additional night stay day before our original booking thru chat only, and it was granted. When we arrived, the lady at the reception was able to give us the same room we booked so we don't have to transfer to a different room the other day. We are grateful for that. Our stay was worth it!!
This is the great choice when U want to stay around Hallstatt, but not to pay enormous prices directly in Hallstatt. Actually Obertraun and this hotel is the best choice U can make, since it has small, but nice and very clean rooms, the view from the balcony (on the lake front side) is amazing, the breakfast is far more U would expect from the 2* hotel. In front of the hotel U can find beach with a lot of facilities for adults and children. U can get to Hallstatt very easily by boat, which is really entertaining.
My wife and I arrived to B&B Seeblick Krippenstein ( i n Obertraun ) in the evening after visiting Hochostervitz castle and Admont abbey(RECOMEND for everybody). It was raining, but the warm and caring welcome of the hostess Anna exceeded all expectations.We had a room with a wiew to alpine mountains with snow-capped peaks . Free parking of the car under the roof. Rich and tasty breakfast.

The house is just in front of the Obertraun Dachsteinhöhlen train station. Bus station to hallstatt lahn js just next to it, and a restaurant with reasonable price is just 300m away.
There is a cafe at Haus Bellevue too!
We were warmly welcome by the host upon arrival. We love the house, and everything here.
Definitely recommend to stay here if you plan to stop a night after visiting hallstatt lahn.

This hotel is a few minutes walking distance from the train station so very conveniently located. The owners were really nice and helpful with info on where to take the ferry across to Hallstatt, where to rent bikes, ...The breakfast buffet was delicious and offered many options of breads, cheeses, meats, cereals, fruit, yogurt, and had an excellent coffee machine.
The room was spacious and very clean. Added bonus: there's a bakery next door.
Gaetane and Milan are wonderful hosts. They cook and prepare a delicious breakfast and afternoon treats. Their home and rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The house is in a quiet location outside of town. This was our best stay in our six-week European vacation. The bikes that are available for guests help to make Obertraun more accessible and provide a nice way to explore the area.
Everything was awesome. Hosts were friendly and breakfast was very good. Room was very pretty and comfortable. Hosts placed a piece of Mozart chocolate on the towels as a form of welcome, which is a very nice touch. There's also a book shelf outside the rooms where guests can do an exchange of books. Very cool. Will definitely be back here if I return to obertraun/Hallstatt!
Spacious accommodation with a decent living space, bathroom, and kitchenette. Reasonable amount of tea and pods for coffee machine were provided. Location in Obertraun nice and quiet with access to nice walking trails. Hallstatt accessible by ferry. Supermarket and bakery nearby.
This was a perfect stay for our visit to Hallstatt. It was only a 10 minute drive to Hallstatt & we had a car. Location of this Hotel was gorgeous. Such beautiful scenery. The buffet breakfast was amazing too! Rooms were spacious & the bathroom was huge. Would stay here again.
Everything was just perfect, we feel like at home, so much love and care from hosts. The room with terrace is very lovely and super clean. The breakfast prepared by hosts is also amazing. Would highly suggest this hotel for visiting Hallstatt!

It's very close to all the local tourist spots. The location is amazing, bus terminal is a couple of metres from the hotel or you can take a boat trip to Hallstatt. There's is a big park just a few walks from the hotel.
