Lovely little cabin. Perfect quiet location . All the facilities you need. Excellent communication and very helpful. The air conditioning was needed on a very muggy day in the UK that day. Would definitely be back and recommend to everyone I know if they visit the area.

Very quiet location for a peaceful sleep. We did hear an owl hoot in the evening, very special! The bed is enormous and really very comfortable with good quality duvet and pillows. Large bathroom as well with all facilities. Dogs were super friendly and welcoming as well as their owner. I loved seeing the squirrels run and jump in and out of the walnut tree.

Melrose cottage, hotel in Newbury

Offering a garden and quiet street view, Melrose cottage is located in Goring, 30 km from Newbury Racecourse and 32 km from University of Oxford.

This charming B&B is located in a quiet road within a 5 minute walk from the village centre and the railway station. There was ample room to park. The host, Rose, was very welcoming to her home and a delight to chat with. Rose was extremely accommodating, letting my son join me for breakfast. Now when it comes to breakfasts, this exceeded my expectations, absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend Melrose Cottage to anyone visiting this lovely area. I will be returning.

Lovely house at the edge of town. The house itself is great, very comfy and equipped with everything you may need even for a longer stay. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, there's nothing you may miss and this is a huge plus when you cater for yourself. The location is great, cows walk by several times a day, but it is still a walking distance from the town centre. There's a pub a few meters away. The communication with the owner went flawless.

Beautifully situated in the heart of the countryside. Very quaint country pub but with modern amenities. Lovely cosy rooms and very good breakfasts. The highlights were the lovely young staff members, Lizzie and George who were super kind and helpful. Very close to Highclere (if you have a car) so a perfect place to be based

The size of the room was wonderful. The bathroom was very nice and the room was comfortable with the large sofa in it. The old hotel was quite charming and it was a special place to stay. The staff we had dealings with were all lovely. The village has some wonderful thatched cottages in it.

Free Parking, cosy atmosphere in the pub, heating was on in our room when we arrived so was lovely and toasty (it was below 0 outside so much appreciated) hot tub was warmed up and ready, good sized shower with toiletries provided, huge and comfy bed with free water bottles and coffee machine in the room, gorgeous food in the restaurant, relaxed service. Overall an excellent anniversary get away and we will undoubtedly be back as we both loved it

Beautiful pub/hotel out in the countryside. Excellent food and very helpful, friendly staff. Room was on the "cozy" side but no less comfortable for that and there was a great view across open fields. Staff had no hesitation in getting hold of a fan for us as we were there on one of the hottest days of the year.

Nice staff, excellent beer, good food, great breakfast. I had a very good Greek salad with added chicken for dinner and really enjoyed it. My wife loved her fish and chips. The ales (West Berkshire and the local Indigenous Brewery) were also worth coming back for. The full English breakfast was superb. The hamlet is charming with several thatched cottages.
