Loved the seclusion and the pool was massive, clean and staff very friendly. Not overpriced. Best Vietnamese salads we’ve had all trip, both the chicken and beef salads were fabulous. Short bike ride up behind the property to the local village was super interesting (bit touristy but still great).

The hotel is located in a small village about 20 kilometres from Mai Chau, which is why we booked it. We wanted to stay in a quiet and remote area and we really liked it. We cycled to Mai Chau one day; scenic landscape, simply fantastic. The bungalows are very nice, food was very good and eveyone super friendly. We had great fun with the three dogs, who are absolutely adorable.

Best beds during my stay in Vietnam!
Fantastic view on the fields! They provide help with activities and a taxi for example. Free bike rental. And they offer massages! For me perfect location and good price if i comper this to the other luxerious stays around. And still a nice place to have a good rest. Bc i felt sick last day they helped me with bringing breakfast and drinks in the room itself.

Location-wise, it’s located in a lovely valley surrounded by staircase paddy fields, but far away from the usual commercialised Mai Chau town, so perfect for those who want peace, like us.
We took an afternoon walk around the area and got a nice early morning bike ride to nearby area which was quite lovely.
The food was absolutely gorgeous! Locally sourced ingredients, seasoned to perfection, in my humble opinion.
The staff were super nice, solicitous and attentive to our needs

The breakfast was okay as it was included on the price of the stay. The view was pretty spectacular on the rare occasion we saw it (we only saw it 1 afternoon out of 3 days we stayed, it was foggy most days to the point you couldn't see anything).
We had a nice walking tour with Kay, he was knowledgeable and welcoming and also assisted us with organising a day tour/transport to Mai Chau.

We stayed in Ban Lac, it was great for accomodation, food, shoping and as a departure point for bike rides and trips. Very charming and quiet place, surrounded by rice fields and a bit further from the bigger road (still easy to get there). It was our favourite place in Vietnam.

It was really lovely.
It was really lovely. Calm without being too quiet, with lots of nice roads to walk and look out over the rice fields and gardens. Just enough food/beer vendors spread about to be good :)
Lots of dogs about, and the smell of burning plastic was a pitty.

This area is incredibly beautiful - rice paddies all around as well as much other vegetation and farming. Beautiful wild nature in the mountains. The people are very kind and the local cuisine is delicious. Visiting by scooter or motorcycle would be best as the sights are spread out and it would be a little difficult to visit. You could also do it by car but that would be less fun!

After checking out La Maison de Buoc, I returned to Hanoi and had a flight back to Australia. If I knew that the trip would be so beautiful and memorable, I would stay longer.
Mai Chau this season is very beautiful, even though there are no longer rice fields. People have harvested all the rice since mid-November. But it's okay, I visited Pu waterfall, Mai Hich stream, Thai ethnic villages, climbed Red Rock and Kiapaco Cave.
It can be said that my trip was too short, I wish I could stay longer.

I like solo traveling so the trip to Mai Chau was what I needed after a long time working. It was and is a quiet, peaceful place, not many things to do, but a lot of things to see. I'm glad I came here on a motorcycle so I can go around and see many thing. For example cloud hunting( or cloud sightseeing, waterfalls, rice field under the shade of mountains as the sun coming down. I hope booking.com adds video feature since I record most of my video
Really beautiful place to stay in nature just beside the rice field.
The host is a lovely women who really cares for her guests. She even picked me up with the scooter. The Food in the evening was just INCREDIBLE delicious!! You share it with the other guests at the table. Beside it’s a very social place where people connect at the dinner.
So - I would highly recommend it to everybody and loved my stay here in Mai Chau. Just the perfect place to finish my holiday before heading back to the airport.
Thank you so much! ☀️😊
The room was well managed and clean. The cafeteria where everyone could gather had a great view and comfortable seats to sit around. The host were very kind too. It was a very cost-effective homestay and I would have chose the same place even if I were to come again! The hosts give you a guide to what you can enjoy when you check-in along with refreshing welcome drinks. Dinner and drinks were delicious and the costs were reasonable too. Highly recommend the place if you’re planning to come to Mai chau!
Location was great, near to nature and city center in one.
Really good price for the value.
The room was comfy, just enough for the couple which spend just few days.
The breakfast was delicious and big enough to fill your belly till the lunch.
What I appreciated the most is staff. Communication with them was great, really quick and efficient. Ha and Vinh also arranged the bus to Hanoi and provide plenty information what to do, not just only in Mai Chau but also in Hanoi.
We spent two lovely nights at this homestay in Mai Chau, run by a very friendly and attentive family. The room was clean and comfortable, and is excellent value for money.
When we arrived one of the family members booked a local guide from the village for us, to take us for a day trekking in the surrounding area. This was the best way to explore Mai Chau.
We had breakfast and dinner at the homestay, where we ate some of the best food we had in Vietnam!
Lim was the most charming, accommodating, and helpful host you could ask for! We got upgraded to a bigger room on arrival for FREE. Her home is very beautiful and so close to the town with good restaurants. You can walk to the small villages or borrow a bicycle for FREE. Your laundry gets washed and folded for FREE. Her home cooking is a feat for both eyes and stomach. If I find myself in Mai Chau again I would love to once again be her guest.
Fantastic stay! Our room was spacious with a nice terrace. Cò, the host, was so nice and friendly, easy to talk to (spoke very good English) and very helpful. He gave us a map and some information on what to do in the area.
The homestay is a typical Thai house located in the center of one of the small villages near Mai Chau. Easy to borrow/rent bikes and cycle through the rice fields. Great a/c. Good shower with hot water. Thank you Cò!
Hue and her family are great people and very kind hosts. They were all super friendly and we really enjoyed the dinners they prepared for us aswell. Very delicious! We used their bicycles and were also able to rent a motorbike from them.
The room size is totally fine and the shated shiwer and bathroom were clean.
Really appreciated the homestay and living with your family in Mai Chau, thank you!
I would highly recommend to everyone to stay in Mai Chau Hillside Homestay. For me, the location is perfect (not in the right center of Ban Lac with a lot of people but still not far away), and the bungalow is nice, clean, and full of equipment with a rice field in front of it. The black chicken hotpot is delicious at a good price. The most important is the host is absolutely friendly and helpful.
We loved the hotel. The staff were great, very nice, patient and attentive for every request/question we had. We loved the facilities of and around the hotel and took the enjoyable trip with the guide around the close villages. We would definitely come back to Avana Retreat again. It was great. Breakfast is great also!
We had a very relaxing time at Hill House and in Mai Chau! The Homestay was great. Very kind and helpful hosts. Very clean, nice and modern rooms. Great food. Quiet and peaceful place. The homestay and the rooms are made out of bamboo and wood with creative ideas. We extended our stay.
the hotel had a great location. the rooms were large and clean, beautifully decorated. we loved the cow from out balcony. breakfast was delicious. the staff and owner (Doung) were super helpful with directions to hikes and transportation anywhere. we loved our stay!
Ill put it simple for you who are debating which hostel to book, this is the best. Best breakfast best view of rice fields, hosts are amazing and will take care of all you need. For me, best place i stayed in vietnam. Thank you Truong Huy.
Maybe due to Covid-19 situation, the hostel had only one staff. The wifi was not available the whole time.
However, the room was clean, and the view was quite amazing. Near the tourist destination.
The room had a superb view and I really liked the traditional decor, not just in the bedroom but throughout the hotel. The swimming pool also is really nice. The staff are all friendly and helpful.
As they say, Vietnamese people are kind, honest and hard working people and this is exactly true with the staff here. Especially ms Trang who was kind and helped us get anything we needed.
Very nice and clean homestay in Mai Chau. The owner was very helpful. He even invited us for dinner once. You can use the bikes for free. Everything seemed to work ok. Good wifi.
Great location and great staff. Typical Vietnamese homestay and provides all the basics you need for a nice stay in Mai Chau. Beautiful view over the rice fields.
