Hanoi was too busy for me.
Hanoi was too busy for me. The traffic was ok once you got used to it but although i am extremely glad i have done it. It wouldn't be a destination i would return to. The people i met were friendly and helpful. I did a cooking class which was brilliant and a couple of day trips. I tried new foods and learned how to haggle when shopping. Getting around was simpler if you used the bike taxi service. At first it is scary but once you get over the initial fear and learn to trust their driving it becomes much easier. Tipping is becoming more of an expectation and 50000.00 was an acceptable amount. Night shopping was more fun and the atmosphere was more sociable. You could also find yourself a bargain. There is a local drink of egg coffee but i fell in love with a egg choclate version

It's super easy and cheap to go around in Hanoi with Grab car. Don't go to the Bahn Mi 25, its hugely overated. Best Banh Mi we have tasted is at Bahn Mi Long Hoi next to Tunger Premium Hotel. For 3 days in a row we had Bahn Mi at this eatery, that's how good it is. Also you must try the delicious Bun Ca Dac Kim soup noodle with grilled pork and the Cha Ca Thang Long fried fish.

It's a great city to visit. People are so good, helpful and polite. Cheap food, mostly fruits & vegetables are yummy. Choose carefully if you look for Halal only. City is safe and secure. Use grab taxi using the app. Google map helps mostly.

A bussling city full of charm, colonial architecture, culture & history. A snapshot of a great civilisation. Never closes - traffic is organised chaos! Be super aware on the streets - no room to move on sidewalks & they don’t stop for pedestrian crossings - or red lights for that matter! A day tour is highly recommended - skip queues & hassle with getting around .

This is a great value hotel with a luxury feel and welcoming staff. We felt very looked after and the breakfast was amazing value- really delicious with authentic Vietnamese options as well as other cuisine. Good facilities and very clean. Location was fantastic. Right in the centre of the old quarter but nice and quiet. It was an oasis of calm amongst the chaos of Hanoi. We loved staying here.
The hotel is clean and very comfortable. We were given free upgrade to premier room and complimentary drinks at the Bar. Location is within walking distance to many eateries and to the old quarters. We wanted a hotel away from the bustling of the traffic and yet near to the old quarters for a good night rest after touring the city. Melia Hanoi is definitely the best choice. Highly recommended!
Great location in the old quarter, I liked the entrance to the hotel (proper Hanoi experience). What made the stay was dealing with Thu from the front desk. She was very helpful with everything and with organising the tour too. Her kindness made the whole stay fantastic and made us understand how good and warming Vietnamese people can be!!
Thank you again
Very nice and cozy hotel in the Old Quarter. Close to the main attractions. Well organized transfers. Lovely breakfast which is updated daily. But the best is the hotel staff!! They really care, they are really open to help, they remember what you were interested about.. it’s amazing!! If I ever return to Hanoi I will stay again in this hotel.
Amazing Hotel in the heart of the Old Quarter, the staff here are exceptional and probably the best staff I have had at a hotel across many countries, they made our stay in Hanoi that much better just by being so lovely, will definitely be back here when we return to Hanoi next time
