Halong Bay was a magic place but sadly very dirty and it doesn’t seem cruise companies care about preserving it. We got to witness housekeeping from a boat throwing all the rubbish into the water, which was heartbreaking to see. I hope the local environmental authorities take measures around litterers.

Ha Long Bay is a wonderful and unique natural seascape. Unfortunately the sea is somewhat dirty due to the many excursion boats. The Lan Ha Bay route is much better: less crowded with boats, cleaner and just as wonderful as Ha Long.

Completely abandoned except for a few creepy men. Do not stay here! We went to two different beaches and didn’t see a single person. We walked 20 minutes from our hotel into “town” and also saw no one.

Spent 3 days in Halong, main purpose was to do a 2 day 1 night Halong Bay cruise, which we did.
The weather is not the fault of Halong but hotel, where we stayed 3 nights, staff said that March, April, weather is overcast, a lot of wet fog, quite miserable, which is what we found.
Explored quite a bit of HL, nothing of interest, wouldn’t recommend it and couldn’t wait to leave.

Halong bay is wonderful, but Verdure cruise was overpriced for the service. The food was not all Vietnamese as advertised and water was very limited. We were only offered one small bottle each over the 2 days. In fact what they call their 2 day cruise was actually less than 24 hours on the boat. Take your own alcohol if you like a drink because te onboard prices were outrageous - for example 900000 Vietnamese dong for a bottle of wine that costs 1500 to 200000 on land.

We had looked at many options for sailing on Halong Bay and read descriptions from many sources. Based on what we read, we chose Essence Grand Halong Bay Cruise and we do not regret that choice at all because it met all our expectations and more. We felt like royalty the entire time.
We loved the look and decor, plus the staff who were absolutely amazing throughout our trip - no question was too troublesome and everything was sorted promptly and successfully :) Anna at reception was particularly friendly and helpful, helping us book transport back to Hanoi, and even an amazing Ha Long Bay tour on which we met some amazing people. She even offered some amazing food recommendations! Banh Mi Umi was our favourite. If you have any problems, she’ll be able to help you get it sorted!!!
The rooms were beautiful and spacious. All the staff went above and beyond to ensure you were well looked after and had a perfect experience. The food was delicious. There are also many activities you can do as part of your stay on the boat - inc. kayaking, fishing, spring roll cooking class, cave exploring, and swimming in the beautiful waters of Ha Long Bay. When I visit Vietnam again, I will definitely be booking this cruise again for 2 nights instead of only 1 night.
We spent the first day going to the sunworld park and cable car it was a short walk down to the main street after arriving around 11am. The hotel helped us with booking a 4 hour from 2pm to 6pm 2nd day and a 6 hour from 12pm to 6pm 3rd day Ha Long bay cruise. we are now waiting to head to Sapa around 10pm which will take about a 7 hour drive to arrive around 6 or 7am.
The price was fair and the staff spoke decent English which made everything easy.
Hard to imagine a better value hotel in Ha Long. Really great hotel that is exceptional value. If you stay here u can do your own Ha Long bay sunset walking tour every evening, doing the 20 mimute walk along the bay to Vincom plaza shopping mall. Circle K is 5 minutes walk away and there are 2 Highlands Coffees within 10 minutes. Limo mini buses to Hanoi and Ninh Binh can pick you up and drop you off here. Overall, a fantastic option.
The food is excellent. Our tour guide, Hiếu, is friendly and funny, and always tries to take care of us. He also gave us some tips on where to buy souvenirs in Hanoi. The cruise went though amazing scenery and I'm so so so glad we booked this one because it does feel like we own the place ourselves, without being surrounded by other cruises like in Ha Long Bay.
We would absolutely recommend Peony Cruises! There are so many cruise ships operating around Ha Long Bay (too many really), but we chose Peony Cruises because the boat wasn't as big and the itinerary went to the less busy area of Lan Ha Bay. Yes we could have found something less expensive, but this cruise was well worth the extra cost.
Nice hotel, comfy and spacious rooms. Pool upstairs is nice and with a decent view of the bay. It's an odd area - clearly being built up, lots of construction going on, and not much to do/many restaurants. But a great spot for a jump off to a Ha Long bay cruise, and the staff were very sweet.
The staff were the best part of this place. They are all so kind and welcoming. They went out of their way to arrange a car to pick us up from Hanoi and wanted to do more for us. Ha long bay however is a ghost town so it was very weird to be there with no one there walking the streets
Discovered the impressive Ha Long Bay on this cruise. Guide was great and fun, activities were various, no time to be bored. Other people on the cruise were very friendly so had a wonderful almost 24hours. Food was really good and many meals on the boat!
A beautifully decorated hotel, in a quiet part of Ha Long Bay. The staff and the owner made me feel very welcome and were always very helpful. The thing that distinguishes this place from many other hotels is the incredible array of plants and greenery.
Fantastic View from the bed in the Cabin. Willi the manager was great ensuring everyone Got on the right bus for transport to Hanoi. Booked transport from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay via the M gloria site on booking which was perfect.
