The staff was really nice with us, even when they couldn't speak English, they arranged a way to communicate well. We arrive very early, around 5.30 am and they allowed us to do the check in with no problems. Also they helped us to rent a motorbike and they gave a call to a taxi for coming back to the provincial bus station.

Cao Bang is a very lovely city!
Cao Bang is a very lovely city! It has markets, coffee places and wide streets. What it does not have is traditional closed building restaurants. They have beautiful coffee places, but those places do not serve food. The two small restaurants I have been to I did not like eating there. The food was overfried and the hygienic conditions might have been just slightly better than most. So there is one decent place to eat, it's a Pizza Place, I think it was called Pedro's Pizza, but I don't eat pizza or too much stuff made of wheat products therefore I could not eat there.

For us, Cao Bang was a stepping stone for getting to Dong...
For us, Cao Bang was a stepping stone for getting to Dong Van but it was a nice place with great street food and good coffee shops. All together the place had a nice ambience and the people were friendly and curious.

Cao Bang was wonderful. It was really refreshing being in an area where there were not so many tourists. I felt like I was experiencing the real Vietnamese culture and I thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
