Didn't stay long enough to discover Newberry but we loved Timber Charlies, recommended for supper by front desk staff. It's an exceptionally professionally operated restaurant, from initial welcome and table assignment to service throughout the meal. The place was humming, tables were being over three times in the course of the evening, the staff all worked well together like a well-oiled machine. Food was great, too !

We always enjoy Taquamenon Falls and Oswald's Bear Ranch. Newberry is a good spot that isn't terribly far from Pictured Rocks, various waterfalls, lighthouses, Shipwreck Museum, etc. Downside is that restaurant options are very limited in Newberry and the one sit down restaurant just down the road that offered breakfast, lunch, and dinner was closed on Sundays and Mondays.

When I arrived, I had dinner at Chamberlins Inn which was great! The next day I visited Oswald's Bear Ranch and went to a Lumberjacks Festival to watch a Horse pull! Also, met some folks and enjoyed some social time at a local tavern! I planned to visit Seney Wildlife Refuge but ran out of time!

We were happy to find a port in a rainy evening after a long day starting from Charlevoix. We crossed Mackinac Bridge, visited historical Soo Locks and excellent Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point, heading to Mackinac Island the next morning. Newberry didn't have much to see or do as darkness fell with the rain, and the popular restaurant there was unimpressive despite the rustic decor. But, thank God, Newberry is there, just where it ought to be. I'm a country boy, and surely there would have been something for me to see or do had we had the time and weather. That was the only foul conditions of our 8-day travels, and not Newberry's doing.

Only town around if you want to see the falls and go up to the Shipwreck museum. Has decent recent restaurants. Unfortunately there aren't many places to stay in the eastern upper UP if you want to see certain attractions.

    Small town charm. Beautiful scenery.

Small town charm. Beautiful scenery. We ate breakfast at Pickleman's restaurant and it was very good. Cooked just right, very reasonable prices, quick service, and the waitress even came outside and took our group picture.

It was clean, staff was very helpful and friendly. They kept the breakfast area clean. They had a 24-hour desk, so there was always someone around if you needed anything. They took Covid seriously and if you didn’t want housekeeping in your room, you just left your used towels in a bag outside the room and they would leave a clean bag of towels hanging from your doorknob. Prices were extremely reasonable compared to other overpriced hotels in the area.

I loved the location of this hotel, the staff was friendly, and we enjoyed the continental breakfast as well as the pool. Check in and check out was fast and convenient we have stayed there 2x in the past and each stay just seems to get better and better. Would also like to say thank you to the staff for making sure we had clean towels, and plenty of coffee each day!!

Indoor pool has been decommissioned. Free breakfast is about the bare minimum. When booking the hotel it the website said there were a only a couple rooms left ......... when I arrived there were hardly any other guests ........ which would seem to be unusual for July.

Nice hotel situated in the middle of the Upper peninsula so good location to visit different places. Breakfast is really good. They have 3 wafflemakers and lots of choice. They offer free coffee and popcorn in the lobby. Rooms have good screens against insects.

The breakfast was adequate, but the space was quite cramped for a hotel this large. Tables were very close together. There is an outdoor eating area which would've been OK, but the morning we were there, it was very cool and rainy.

This was by far the cleanest room we've ever stayed in. Extremely impressed! I will forever judge other hotel rooms based on the cleanliness of this experience. Well done!
