We enjoyed several wonderful excursions while in the Chesapeake area! We traveled to attend the annual Military Tattoo which is held in Norfolk at Scope Arena every April! It is an amazing patriotic show with over 800 military performers (including bands, vocal performances, drill teams, drum teams, etc) from around the world!
We also took a Wild Horse Adventure Tour on Corolla Island, NC. It was absolutely wonderful! An exciting safari riding on the beach shore in a comfortable extended Hummer vehicle locating the wild horses on the island! The two hour drive was easy and worth the trip!
The Naval Base Rover boat tour behind the Naval base in Norfolk was so informative and enjoyable viewing huge military ships, subs, tug boats, etc.
(Note: This tour is full of detailed narration that may not be as accommodating for young children.)
We had hoped to take the Dolphin Watch Boat tour offered by the Virginia Beach Aquarium but the weather turned cold and rainy so we were unable to join that excursion.
Riding over the Chesapeake Bay bridges & tunnels was very disappointing. $16. each way ($32. Just to ride over and back!😳) and the restaurant/gift shop is now closed that was located in the viewing area in the middle of the waters. A tiny souvenir gift closet is now at the north end of the bridge but so very small and no restaurant on the water! Disappointing!
We enjoyed our visit to this area experiencing some wonderful excursions while there! This made a special place to visit and participate in significant adventures while leaving the cares and worries of life behind you for a few days!

I came to visit with a friend. There’s a lot of freeways! And there’s the bridge and underwater tunnel. Food is usually hard to find as I am a vegan, but it was easy to find. I enjoyed myself and definitely plan to visit again

Not really much to like other than it had a roof.
Not really much to like other than it had a roof. Dirty floor, floor mats were available for bath towels, lots of very 'shady' people meeting and gathering on the property. Around 3 am, a group of adults gathered outside our room on the balcony to meet, talk, laugh for over 2 hours.

Not a place that I would recommend traveling to.
Not a place that I would recommend traveling to. VERY expensive and poor quality. Ugh !! Hoping that I NEVER have to go back. HIGH taxes which do not appear to go to the schools, roads, police, fire and rescue squads much
Parts of this city have natural beauty which developers are tearing down as fast as they can buy it. Many thieves in suits in this city I'm guessing.
Very oppressive to the lower class as well. Idk how they manage to survive other than the grace of God.

I like the location.
I like the location. Very safe and walking distance to everything. But this Hilton was very poorly kept and for what my 2 day bill was.... HOW DO YOU NOT HAVE GACE CLOTHS and a clean bathroom for me?? Now my question is how do I get some of my money back?? If you're traveling thru the VA Beach/ Chesapeake area.... STAY AWAY FROM THE HILTON. You'll be sorry and mad as hell. This is the 2nd time I failed yo read and adhere to travel advice on a hotel. But nobody has offered me any of my money back for buying my own bath supplies yo stay at "THE Hellton"..

We have relatives and friends in Chesapeake.
We have relatives and friends in Chesapeake. I enjoy the area for a short visit. The location was excellent, with easy access to highway as well as local travel. Plenty of eateries and usual shopping places. Not the same as a Charleston or Savannah, but near the beach and worthwhile to visit. Musical entertainment and shows are limited.
we have stayed at many high priced hotels, this one exceeded them all. it was so clean as soon as you walked in smell was so refreshing, king size room so clean and fresh, breakfast was amazing hot buffet, different items every day from, eggs omelettes, different sausage even vegan and vegetable, potatoes and many more items.
the staff was always so pleasant and helpful. stayed 4 days and will be back in June for a graduation.
Thank you all for a very pleasant stay, Also an extra bonus you are only 10 minutes from the Casino.
Great location for our purposes. Nice large room for the 3 of us. Staff were all kind and welcoming, helpful, and professional. Special thanks to Malae. Upon our arrival and throughout our visit, Malae was overwhelmingly helpful, kind, and very personable. Having someone as genuine and thoughtful as Malae as the first impression upon our arrival really meant a lot to us. Please know Malae is representing your organization very well. With family in the area, we look forward to staying again. Thank you!
the bed mattress needs to be.replaced.omg it was terrible.i lost my phone the camera in hallway doesn't go down to elevator so couldn't tell if someone picked up my phone.had to call phone carrier to locate my phone even doe we searched the room up and down 3 times no phone until my carrier saided your phone is tracking back to hotel,go look again my phone was by the back.of bed breakfast sucks..terrible stay
Traveled with family of 5. The room was super clean. The beds were nice and comfortable. The shower and sink water was super nice and hot. Wi-Fi worked great for kids' Xbox. Plenty of plugs/outlets to charge phones, tablets, and laptop. Plenty of parking. I wanted to eat the free breakfast, but didn't have time. The location of hotel is great, a lot of shopping nearby and close to major highways.
We travel all over the US. This was an OUTSTANDING place to stay. Rooms were perfect! Beautiful hotel. Staff was the best! Breakfast was by far the best we've ever had at a hotel. Would pay good money at a restaurant for what we ate. Rate was completely affordable. Would stay here again and wish ALL hotels were like this one. Wonderful experience:)
I booked this hotel for my son and daughter-in-law 2 night honeymoon before they left for Aruba
I asked to staff to decorate the room with balloons petals wine and chocolate covered strawberries
They did a beautiful job my kids were so happy to see that upon arrival Ms Sally took care of all the details and made sure it was a great presentation
The Lobby layout was nice and the hotel had a nice looking bar area. The bathroom shower had a great handheld shower head that was great in getting the sand out of every nock and cranny of your body from Virginia Beach! I also liked that the staff was helpful in responding to my request to change rooms.
Front desk staff were great and I had an easy check in. The room is huge, great for an extended stay and never felt like the walls were closing in. Breakfast spread was solid. Location provides easy access to I-64 and greater Chesapeake area.
The stay at the Aloft Hotel in Chesapeake, VA was excellent we really enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the amenities that were made available to us. The children enjoyed the pool we enjoyed playing pool at the pool table and the WXYZ bar drinks.
Had to ask for a room switch twice and they all were dirty and one of them had a dead mouse in the freezer. Manager told employee to give me a refund (this was a non refundable hotel) instead of cleaning the rooms.
Clean, good breakfast. Kitchennete in the room was well stuffed. Relatively close to Virginia Beach, around 30 mins driving. It's close to Norfolk city too, 20 mins driving.
