The hotel was dirty, it had bed bugs, & Cockroaches. The Staff could use some training on how to talk to customer. Their Guest Relation was supposed to get back to me in . .48 hrs. I'm still waiting I called today again & was told they will get back to me in 48 hours. The Staff offered me a broom & dustpan for me to use to clean the room.

It truly was a beautiful hotel.
It truly was a beautiful hotel. You’d never know it was a Holiday Inn. It was redone about 4 years ago and they did a great job! Restaurant onsite called Burger Theory was good. Friendly and helpful staff. Proximity to all attractions in the area was terrific. We were there for a volleyball tournament at the Hampton Roads convention center and it took less than 5 minutes to get there. We also traveled into colonial Williamsburg which was about 30 minutes.
We would stay here again!

Do not stay at this hotel, pictures show clean, well run establishment, but really they do the cheapest option for everything. The WiFi doesn't work at all, breakfast was horrible, took a deposit that I didn't know was required and they actually have an exit door dead bolted, which is a state fire code violation. Not cleaned daily and staff is not friendly.

Try to stay only at hotels that have uniformed security...
Try to stay only at hotels that have uniformed security guards. I am on a waiting list for housing and for the time being am staying in hotels close to my employment. I cannot afford the more expensive hotels and so pay for the $40 - 55 hotels. Otherwise, Budget Lodge on J. Clyde Boulevard for me was the safest hotel because a separate business has a camera pointing toward the Budget Lodge parking lot. The Mulberry Inn use to have uniformed guards, now people leave main doors open.
This past October, I was placed in a room with really short curtains. When I questioned why were the curtains so short in this room, the male employee took a bedspread off the bed and placed under the short curtain. The next day, one of the hotel guests told me a lady was asking questions about me. A younger employee asked me about my stay and I shared my experience, and was ready to checkout. That lady came out from behind a door with a shocked look on her face. The curtain was changed. They may have gotten away with in their country.
Some guests will hang out in groups in front of your door, talk really loud and then retire to their room. Some people will just spray bug spray just to make it uncomfortable.
Try not to use your remote to get in and out of your car. A hotel I use to frequent did not (at least rightfully at first) question a group of guys using their cells in front of rooms they were occupying. A week later a guy opened my car door around 1:39 am(in the morning) around the time I had to use the bathroom. I looked out the window because I was like "man that is real close to my car." The guy walked to my car and ran to get back in his after he saw me looking out. Place aluminum foil on your remote if that works.

Our intention to see Jamestown nearby the hotel was not...
Our intention to see Jamestown nearby the hotel was not able to be fulfilled as the rain held us back. We did not realize it was a 40 mile drive to Norfolk which we took in order to find a great restaurant! It was in downtown Norfolk and was an old stone church that had been restored for the Freemason Abbey restaurant. Turned out to be worth the 40 mi drive one way! We hope to return one day.
The only thing I liked is that most of the hotel staff are very friendly; the location is excellent very close to groceries, restaurants, bus stops and entertainment. The hotel only has smoking outside which was not convenient for my husband, you must bring everything for yourself cooking utensils, coffee pot , toilet paper, soap etc. housekeeping does not really exist so you are washing your own bath towels and sheets. The tv channels suck and the internet is kind of decent.
The staff here were extremely helpful and polite. I am unfamiliar with the area and the front desk clerks told me about several events that were happening locally and even gave me directions on how to get to them. My room was extremely clean and the bed was beyond comfortable. I ended up extending my stay because I enjoyed this hotel that much. If you stay here the restaurant on the 1st floor is called Burger Theory. They have awesome drinks and the food was great.
I can’t say anything bad about are stay. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the pillows felt like clouds. The staff was very friendly especially Thomas at the from desk was exceptional and very nice! the location was great too, next to a mall and a there was every restaurant you can think of on the highway. We came from Philly for a wedding in Newport News, the hotel was in the perfect spot supper close to we’re we needed to be.
Location in Newport News was convenient to the various sites in Virginia's historic triangle and the price was reasonable. Quiet, even though it has direct access to a major road. Staff was very responsive to requests. Room was comfortable and clean. Bonus that it had a sitting area, refrigerator, and microwave. Breakfast was standard for this type of hotel. Overall, we were very satisfied and would stay there again.
No breakfast and the location was horrible.. it was crack heads and hookers walking around all night and even the next morning we saw a lady standing in the window waiting on someone to answer the door . Bed was hard , pillows was flat , shower was barely big enough for myself . Do not recommend staying here unless u just need a cheap place to stay .
The front office staff was absolutely horrible! The older lady that said that she is the boss attitude is completely disgusting and unprofessional! I would not stay at this hotel again nor would I recommend anyone to them! I never seen such poor Hospitality at a hotel the experience was absolutely the worst!
We booked this hotel for my sister and mom in law to stay at while they were in town to attend my daughter’s wedding. Staff was very friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and spacious.
Restaurants and Target are right across the street. A very nice hotel for a stay herein Newport News.
We stayed here for 2 nights, room was dry spaciousness. Bathroom small,(door almost hits toilet when you enter.) Maybe update shower heads, and add exhaust fan. Other than that, quiet hotel. No really other complaints. Just need a few minor updates.
This property took my money and when I got there I was told my room was given away and everything else was sold out .. the refused to give me a refund. So im playing for 2 nights for a hotel that I never even got to stay at. Staff is horrible!
This hotel to me was better than the one on J Clyde Morris . The manager was considerate and very willing to help me with whatever I needed. The room was clean . Water hot and the fridge was cold. I would definitely give them a 10/10
The breakfast was fine. Better than expected though some items, such as muffins and oj were gone at 8:20 when we ate. The coffee was good,
The bed was very comfortable and the rooms were clean and in good shape.
The room was very neat, clean, and looked new (furniture, carpet, curtains, bathroom). My location was quiet. The breakfast offered a variety of choices. Check in was easy.
