Lovely coastal town free of chain restaurants!!

Lovely coastal town free of chain restaurants!! All the shops and restaurants seemed locally owned and unique to the area. We enjoyed lots of seafood like fresh lobster, clam chowder and lobster bisque. Be sure to walk the coastal path and take a harbor cruise! We loved flying Cape Air from Boston to Bar Harbor to see the coast and islands--just be sure to pick up your luggage in Boston and bring it to the Cape Air terminal! Restaurants we liked-- Geddy's, Ben & Bills Chocolate Emporium for ice cream/gelato/fudge, Stewman's, Bar Harbor Lobster Pound --they had outdoor games, too! Of course, don't miss Acadia National Park and Abel's Lobster right by the yacht yard--great outdoor ambiance!!

We enjoyed sunrises at Cadillac Mountain, crossing the bar at low tide, hiking the Beehive, the Bubbles, and Acadia Mountain, and walking on a small portion of the carriage roads. Bar Harbor had great food, but it was tough to get into the restaurants. Our favorite was the Side Street Cafe. We went in late October. Pros - lower crowds. Con - water activities and some restaurants were already closed for the season.

I can't wait to go back! Bar Harbor is a beautiful town that's extremely close to Acadia National Park. It's the perfect place to return to after a long hike. The locals are friendly and the food is delicious. The views are phenomenal.

We loved Gaylns restaurant, excellent food. Whole belly clams were terrific at the Thirsty Whale. You can walk just about every where. The Sightseeing & Nature Cruise with Acadian Nature Cruises was worth taking.

    absolutely gorgeous.

absolutely gorgeous. Loved the distance from the hotel to Acadia Nt'l Park, as well as, to the center of Bar Harbor. Love all the shops & exploring the different restaurants in town. We've been 1x before & the weather was perfect for getting great views @ the top of the mountains in Acadia. This time, we weren't so lucky - very foggy daily. But it was still just as beautiful. Highly recommend. the outdoor pool & hot tub are fantastic here after a long day of biking/hiking. The view of the ocean with the docked ships is quite beautiful. If you're lucky like we were, you may see Bald Eagles, deer or other wild life. :)

We had a different perception of what Bar Harbor was going...

We had a different perception of what Bar Harbor was going to be like. We also met a few people downtown at a restaurant's outdoor fireplace that had the same opinion. We thought it was going to be a quaint town on the coast. It was very touristy with an abundance of t'shirt and souvenirs shops. Our visit took place first week in October, lots of people. We found parking downtown, you just need some patience. The Chart House has a great happy hour on the pier out back, great cocktails $10 (not well, premium labels) and fresh oysters ($2ea) Our recommendation would be to stay at a smaller town on the coast with access to Acadia National Park. The park has 40+ miles of bike trails, called carriage trails, and the drive up Cadillac Mountain is worth making a reservation on-line. Views from the top are beautiful

The Acadia Hotel is situated right on Bar Harbor's village green, so nearly every shop and restaurant is less than a 10-minute walk away. Also easy access to Acadia National Park. Hotel guests get guaranteed parking spaces (behind the building) in a part of town where street parking can be brutally competitive. The complementary continental breakfast includes an omelette bar. The hotel has bikes, hiking equipment, and umbrellas to lend out to guests. They also have printed hiking guides that you can take into the park.

Clean, spacious room with a private balcony overlooking gardens and trees displaying beautiful fall foliage. The room’s decor was simple and perfect and restful— not distracting. A walk of a couple blocks brings you to the bar for which Bar Harbor is named, and where you can walk to the island beyond at low tide. Neighborhood the Manor is in is out of the fray of the bustle of Bar Harbor’s Main Street. Breakfast was a treat—billed as “continental”, but a generous, high end continental.

Spacious, clean room right in downtown Bar Harbor, near shops, restaurants, and an easy walk to the wharf. Check in was fast and straightforward and I felt very comfortable with their level of Covid precautions. I appreciated their customer service checking on our stay during our time there. Acadia National Park is a short, simple drive from the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom large and with plenty of storage space. The included continental breakfast is adequate.

Fantastic location- very short walk into downtown Bar Harbor, very short drive to Acadia National Park. The best part about it was the people- Christopher, Constance and Penny were so warm, welcoming and helpful! I felt like I was staying with friends! The light breakfast options in the lobby, fresh baked cookies every afternoon, coffee all day and water bottle filler were all unexpected and so nice! The room was large and easily accommodated our party of 4.

The Atlantic Oceanside was the perfect place for my fiancé and I to spend a weekend away in Bar Harbor exploring Acadia. It was a 4 minute drive from downtown and if we wanted to we could have walked. The views from the balcony in our room were spectacular. Waking up every day with that view was our reason for coming to Bar Harbor. It was also easy to get into the National Park from where the hotel was located. It was 17 min to top of Mt. Cadillac.

When we got to this specific property there was an issue with our room. We didn’t even get fully checked in and they gave us an upgrade to a sister hotel right in downtown Bar Harbor. My parents and dog were traveling with us, and it was AMAZING!! All of the staff were so kind, and the views were so beautiful. Wonderful stay!!

Acadia Inn is a clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay. Although it is a little bit of a walk from the main centre of Bar Harbor, it is conveniently located across the road from the Bistro, where we had some of our favourite meals. I thought the hotel offered excellent value for money.
