Great location with good restaurants and access to various activities. We liked the boat tour of the shipwrecks and the maritime museum. The dark-sky areas at nearby parks provided an opportunity to star gaze which we enjoyed. And great walking path along the lake.

Alpena is a welcoming hometown with a delightful downtown filled with pleasure for all ages. Nature in both beach and woods is kept impeccably clean and has areas just outside of town for longer hikes, kayaking, bike riding and interesting spots such as sinkholes.

The person who geated me didin't explain the proces of the room changed because of the dog staying - and the additional cost associated. Continental breakfafst - the pooresrst a I have ever seen. That goes tos to the quality of service too.

Very disappointing. Many stores empty. Restaurants few and far between other than fast food places. Hard to get a good meal on a Saturday night. Pizza and burgers only option. Besser and NOAA museum definitely worth a visit.

Great small little town that seems to be developing. Good restaurants are JJ's (awesome pizza), Mango's (seafood chimichanga) and Fresh Palate (flourless chocolate cake). Some cool cart galleries, especially Art in the Loft. Friendly folks.

Alpena is a great east coast side of "Up north", a small busy city next to dense forests is a really cozy place to stay. Like a mini Upper Peninsula in my opinion, but then again Michigan is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. This just happens to be one with great Boating lakes and rivers.. and Hiking trails!

The room was clean, but there was a beetle of some kind in the bathroom. This can be expected at this time of the year. We did not get to use the pool because I forgot to put our suits in the car. Breakfast was minimum at best. However, this may be attributed to the current crisis we are going thru. There where mattresses and furniture stored in the common areas. This does not look professional or organized. The staff for the Inn were polite and professional. The bar needs some work.

The owners are the kindest people you will ever meet. I felt so comfortable and safe at this lodge. I would recommend them to anyone I know heading to or through Alpena. The view was great too despite being winter. Close location to anything you would need. The bed and pillows were super comfortable. If you enjoy a mom & pop run location, definitely go to Big Bear Lodge. The price was great too!

The room was spacious with comfortable bed, comfortable bedding (sheets, etc.), as well as very soft and absorbent towels. Mini refrigerator was plugged in and very cold. Many hotels often have unplugged, warm frig. Room was clean. Noise was very minimal. Very good internet service. Breakfast was very good.

Very clean and nice staff. Light breakfast as advertised was very nice and better than expected! Price was much better than local Holiday Inn Express by $70 a night and well worth the price. I travel a lot and I am a Hilton Diamond member and was pleasantly surprised by this Days Inn.

The location was perfect—just off the main downtown street area! Several restaurants and pubs nearby plus local shopping and the bipath for walking along the river’s edge. Ample parking right outside the main entrance. The breakfast includes hot and cold items.

Wonderful place to stay with great rooms. Awesome and very welcoming reception letting us know about best places to eat, and local concerts that were happening when we arrived. The suite with 2 rooms and 2 baths was perfect for friends traveling.

Location was excellent. Staff were all friendly and personable. It is a fairly new hotel so expected clean, good condition and found it to be so. Biggest issue is hospitality and meeting guests normal needs (see below).

The hotel was filthy, lights didn’t work, the shower backed up it was awful. I would not sell this hotel on booking.com any longer. Everything about it was disgusting.
