We asked for the newer type bungalow. I really liked the jacuzzi bath (with a view), nice, clean pool for a dip at the end of the day, quiet, spacious bungalow and friendly staff who helped arrange boat transfers, trip to Phang Nga bay, scooter rental etc.

The food was excellent value for money, both breakfast and dinner. The host was so lovely, really helpful and kind. She organised a long tail boat trip for us to Hong Island and also took us and collected us from the pier. We had a fabulous day thanks to her. She also organised for us to have a massage in our room. She always went above and beyond to help.

A great island, just like other Thai islands used to be before they became too busy with large hotels. Quiet beaches and friendly locals.
The relatively long speed boat journey from Phuket will prevent large groups from visiting: a real positive! Worth taking a trip around the island to discover how the local economy still works.

Lovely place to stay in the middle of the island. It has just reopened, so I was the first guest and treated very well!
So great to hear the sound of Nature at night, looking at the stars. If you're lucky, you'll see fireflies.
The place is simple, you get everything you need, the beds are big, confortable, a good night sleep! The hostess is very nice and will help you with everything you need.
Many cats around as the hostess look after them with so much love. Glad to support a business where part of the money goes for animal care.

We loved our villa. We had a private pool.
We loved our villa. We had a private pool. The resort had 2 more pools, one was infinity and the other one on the beach level. But we didn’t feel the need to go there because of the private pool that we had with the villa.
We had dinner in Chantara restaurant every single night that we stayed the fool was delicious. We eat halal and they provided halal food.
Overall the experience was so good that we are planning a longer trip next year with the whole family.

Exceptional. Amazing. An experience we will never forget. The hotel is so underrated and the pics on the different websites don't give any credit to this place. It's a paradise. All guests we met were had the same review. Rooms are amazing and comfortable. The resort is like a nature reserve. The infinity pool great with spectacular views, you never want to leave. The beach has hammocks. Breakfast and restaurant were lovely. The attention to details was certainly clear. You can also get luck with game viewing (we saw a Water monitor!) - Paradise! Recommended to everyone and anyone.

A great island to vacation on, people all over the island are very nice, you can rent a motorcycle and travel all over the island. Very cheap prices, an excellent restaurant called Gala, the best on the island and in the Krabi area.
Beautiful location right on a perfect beach overlooking other Andaman Sea Islands. Very helpful staff phoned our ferry company to check we were being picked up by taxi from the hotel. There's a street nearby with some good little shops and restaurants. We had some great meals at the Together restaurant and the one next to it.
Breakfast at the resort was 250baht and wasn't a buffet but was tasty.
There's tour operators nearby too if you want to plan an excursion or a boat for transfer
As others have said the hotel plot is long and thin, which only allows 1 bungalow to face the sea. The grounds are kept immaculate as was our room, however ask for towel / bedding changes if needed.
There are local restaurants the best we found was “Chill Chill” a 15 minute walk – out to the end of the road turn left, down the hill and up the other side, its on the left.
As other reviews have said you need a scooter, the hotel rent us a nice one for 5 days @ 250 baht per day.
Absolutely great place! Quiet, very tasty breakfasts, private beach and awe-inspiring sunsets! For me the best place to stay on Koh Yao Yai if you like a bit of luxury, but not overpriced and with a bit of local spice. We rented scooter on northern part of island (cheaper then closer to hotel). Also - small gym, but almost always empty. If you need to do cardio or small workout - great. A place to chill. We'll be back for sure. Can't wait :)
We had a great stay at sunrise beach resort, the room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The hotel is so well taken care off, the gardens and views are beautiful. The family are so kind, friendly and accommodating which you will find runs through the whole island, everyone is so lovely. We have been to Koh Yao Yai 4 times and this was our favourite place, highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be back again.
This was the best experience that we had throughout Thailand. The hostess is amazing, the cats are amazing, the bathroom with the window to the nature was an epic touch, the beds were the most comfortable that we had slept at, the soundscape hanging out at the porch was fascinating, and the building decoration and ideas behind it made everything even more interesting.
I cannot suggest this enough. Especially to nature lovers.
The room we stayed in was absolutely beautiful, extremely comfy beds and very clean! Our best night sleep in Thailand! Room had a walk in shower, dressing room and jacuzzi bath.
The staff were all so friendly and helped us book transfers to and from. Pool was very lovely and the place looked stunning at night with all the lovely lights. Right on the beach!

The breakfast was delicious. The dinners at the bar & grill were OUTSTANDING, especially Steak/Pasta night. The pools and happy hour was great. Cannot say enough great things about this place. There wasn’t a lot I didn’t like about this beautiful off beaten place it’s owned by a small family mom made you breakfast everyday brings it to your door, it’s so quiet and fresh water was clean and we got hot water, there’s 2 7/11 in Koh Yao yai the restaurants there are very good you will need a bike on this island

The Bungalow was really nice with the best bathroom on our whole trip. we had a bungalow without swimming pool but could use the swimming pool of the neighbourng resort for free. Personnel spoke exceptionally good English. Dinner was ok.
