Restaurants, grocery Shops, atm, street markets, Bars, one of the best fruit Shops I have ever been to. Short drive you will find very busy area with Shops and more Bars and Restaurants.

To busy... food more expensive than Australia or America.. Lots of food poisoning in off season.. shops full of Chinese rubbish.. all of South Thailand has fallen to big business overpricing .. go somewhere else or dont stay to long...
I've been to other places in Thailand, and honestly this was the best beach destination. It's a quiet and funny mix of backpackers, families and couples. There are no noisy longtail boats which are extremely annoying in other places such as Koh Pih Pih and Rail Lay. Accomodation is cheaper and you end up having much more food offer. Only drawback is that the waters are not the crystal blue we know from the postcards of south Thailand. But that can be fixed with one or two trips to the coral islands around KL
This is a lovely little town in South Thailand. The nearby rocks add a beautiful scenery. Though the town itself doesn't have any beach, but there are quite a few nearby. Here is one of the most pictouresqe beach on the world, just a short boat ride away. (Railay Beach) On the riverside we could spent hours just to look for the tiny cute crabs and ground walking fishes! ;)
The water is dirty compared to other beaches in South Thailand...but still a great place to stay. Especially if you're interested in Railay Beach. Ao Nang is a great location! Cheaper, more options, great night life, and a cheap long boat ride to Railay Beach!
If you're a regular beach fairing tourist, or jet-setter looking to get tan. Chalong may not be the best place for you. The vast variety of beach resorts that are around the island may be of more worth to yourself If you're a bloodthirsty, fitness minded ruffian - hell bent on being harder, better, faster, stronger and training with elite Crossfiters, MMA fighters and the pedigree of Muay Thai trainers that South Thailand has to offer (and finding the inner peace with regular meditation sessions with the Monks). Then the Soi in Chalong is the place for you. Here, we eat Clen, Tren hard, Anavar give up on ourselves and each other!
Ao Nang beach is a nice part of south Thailand which is scenic as you look out across the sea. The beach front has many restaurants with reasonable prices. The area is not too crowded but at same time plenty of night life on offer.
Ao Nang is not the place I would spend a romantic vacation - but it is a good hub in between other locations, as the surrounding islands or the backlands of south Thailand for example. Because it has more infrastructure than the surrounding islands, we used our short stays in Ao Nang basically to get things organized: as renting mountain bikes, organizing transfers, maps and other things.
Klong Muang Beach
We spent hours looking for what we wanted for our trip to South Thailand and eventually chose Varana. We have no regrets and the trawl through different areas/hotels was worth it to land on this place. Our stay was exceptional. I started writing a really long review and then I decided just to go with…. Book it, you won’t be disappointed!!!
Railay Beach
Massive comfy beds! Friendly staff that welcome you with a glass of juice. Food was also really nice and really peaceful areas to sit and eat or read a book. Room was one of the nicest we’ve stayed in for the price point in south Thailand.
Koh Tao
The staff were very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble for them and the welcome drink was delicious! The room was clean and the beds were some of the comfiest I’ve stayed in around south Thailand. Overall had an amazing stay!

Loved our stay here! We saw some negative comments regarding no food/drinks being served and the pool being dirty so we were skeptical. However, they had a HUGE menu with many options and could tell the pool was being cleaned daily. The beds were a little hard but otherwise we loved our stay. The staff were also very nice and smiled at us everyday.

View and hot tub from our cottage was amazing, unbeatable in Patong for the price. Definitely the most upmarket place to stay in Phuket. Close to the hustle and bustle of the city but once up the hill it seams very distant
This place is incredible. First of all, the staff is really caring and they take care of everything from moving your luggage to letting you know when the sun rises. The view from a wooden house is incredible - honestly, the best place to watch a sunrise in Thailand is Samet Nangshe and your own balcony. When we arrived, our fridge was full of everything you need throughout the day. The pool was nice and warm with a lovely view - nice for a late-night dip. The breakfast is incredible - I have never had as amazing breakfast as the eggs benedict and cinnamon french toast from Samet nangshe.
