Although in the meantime the hotel is so well known & always fully booked, the staff is still amazing friendly & takes time for a small chat.
What I like most is the trust they bring towards the guests, no strict rules like pool opening hours & it‘s always quiet, people do not abuse it. Also the honesty bar where it is possible to take out in trust is great!
The hotel is of high quality but not new any more & for me it‘s sympathetic that it doesn’t shine & glance in luxury, it‘s still familiar, beautiful garden & peace.

The staff were very efficient when cleaning the tables for breakfast very keen.
The reception staff were very helpful, the room was huge and so comfortable balcony was well used,lovely view would stay again and recommend this hotel!

Villa is huge and well equipment. You have everything there what you need. (Even slippers and hiking sticks!) You can enjoy the sun and take a dip in an amazing outdoor swimming pool with the incredible view of the village and the ocean. The view is just breathtaking.
Ana’s place has a private big parking in front of the house. You have to drive down from the main street, just be careful because GPS was leading us around, from the other side throughout a narrow banana trees alley where you can't pass😅

It is an amazing villa, with a wonderful view to the ocean .
The casa designed in modern clean architecture ,which together with the panoramic view of the nature around, gives kind of “Zen atmosphere” .
The place is really amazing, much better then the photos!
Miguel the owner use to work for many years at hotels, and the Villas are his dream come true. You can feel and see his professional touch in every detail at the villa which has 2 bedrooms, leaving room, wonderful shower, amazing swimming pool, hot tab at the garden, very well equipped kitchen and privet garden with plants and herbs that the guest can use for cooking or tee.
There are also many other useful facilities that you can use such as washing and drying machine, every thing is new and works perfect.
The bottom line is -5 stars experience.
Next time we will be in madeira we will be back to Casa da Vargem.🌺

Location turned out to be good, quite a small village with some lovely friendly residents. Great pizza place opposite. Few nice bars and shops. Bit isolated, but great taxi sevice and some buses. The property itself was lovely. The annex (little house we called it) was ideal for the young couple in our party. Having mobility issues myself, the downstairs bedroom and adapted bathroom were ideal. The ramp access provided helped too. Garden and outdoor space were great. The views were fabulous. Lovely well equipped kitchen, with all mod cons. The place grew on me as the week wore on, pity we weren't there longer to try out the bbq facilities and enjoy the garden some more.

We really liked it, we felt at home! Luxury house, design, cleanliness, views, swimming pool! Everything is thought out, everything is convenient, there is everything you need and a little more) And if something is needed, the owners resolve the issue in a second. Liliana, thank you so much for your hospitality! We were with the baby and we were provided with so much for him - a bed, a chair, a potty, a chaise longue with music, a baby blanket! It was so great. The owners are always in touch - they helped us immediately to any request or question - where to eat delicious food, where to go, where to buy local fruits. We were by car and this house is ideally located from many attractions. We remember with great warmth the days spent in this place and boldly recommend it! The views will make your head spin!

Very nice small town with a nice beach and good restaurants. There are 2 levadas to walk. There is a small shop in town where you can find everything you need. Good connection to the main road that runs along the coast to the capital. A cafe on the cliff and a cape where you can walk and see the cliffs on both sides.

Ponta do Sol in itself is nothing really special.
Ponta do Sol in itself is nothing really special. But given the fact that you have rental car you can just discover the whole island.
It is highly recommended to visit Calheta, there is a very nice harbour and little boulevard. Must go there is restaurant Manifattura Di Gelato.
Another very good restaurant is La Vaca Negra in Funchal; best steaks ever!

Such a pretty little place - lots of winding streets - many pedestrian only, and good restaurants too. We mostly ate at the hotel, but also at a restaurant called Caprice which was fantastic and great value for money.
We were delighted to find lots of interesting sculpture around the place which was fascinating, and the people were all very chilled and welcoming.
The pavements are mostly cobbled, and of course there are lots of hills so challenging if your mobility is reduced as my parent's was - didn't stop us though - we just took our time and there were regular places to sit and rest along the way.

Its a very good place to base yourself as its very easy to get around the island from there, there are may different walks within a short drive.. It is a very small but quaint place. You get the most amazing sunsets in Ponta do Sol .
Nice house, quite comfortable for family with 2 children. Great location - we loved staying on Ponta do Sol beach for a couple of hours a day. Generally you need a car, as the property is located high enough, though you can walk down to the beach, which takes 30 mins. Really helpful managers - Christian and Margaret. Great view from balcony. Barbecue facilities, though we didn’t use them, as there are plenty of restaurants in Ponta do Sol and Ribeira Brava.
A modern house with a wonderful view, big indoor and outdoor spaces, well equipped also for longer stays. Very well exposition against the sun which was crucial in December. There was no need to use any heating.

Great, quiet location, just out of Ponta do Sol with great views. Sunset views from the infinity pool! The breakfast was amazing with a great selection including home made jam and cake. The host is very nice and we felt very welcome.
The 90 restaurant belongs to the hotel, but is also open to the public. You can easily book a table there. Food is great and the staff is fun.
Unbeatable value-for-money. If you are into traveling around the island with a rented car (especially into the mountains) and you prime functional accommodation with a more than reasonable price, this is it. Put that together with two of the most friendly, atentive, and accommodating hosts I have ever met, and you get a picture of what waits for you if you book this place.
The hosts were wonderful! They provided baskets of fresh fruit and delicious breakfast foods. The property itself is absolutely beautiful with stunning views and loads of space. We really enjoyed the pool after a day of hiking. We walked to town for cafes and restaurants and while it was a hike uphill on the return taxis were easy to find.

We stayed in 5 different top hotels in Madeira and Estalagem Ponta do Sol was our favorite! Wonderful hotel with a superb view from your room, restaurant, infinity pool. The best sunset views from the restaurant. Also, the staff was very friendly, welcomed us with champagne (we stayed during our honeymoon).
The patios were a vocal point for us to be able to look out over the hillside into the ocean from both patios after a long day of touring the island. I enjoyed being able to leave the bedroom window, which had a view of the ocean, open while out and about as there were no insects in April
The breakfast was very good, great view. It’s a family friendly hotel with all the amenities this brings. Particularly enjoyed the vibe of ponta do sol in the morning and visiting the rocky beach in front was very pleasant after the heavy breakfast. The room was very spacious and clean.
Really clean and well equipped apartment, has everything a person need to stay mid to long term. The restaurant right opposite is such a gem too. Walking distance to supermarkets and view points nearby. Ideal for those who travel as a couple or want to stay long term and cook etc

It’s beautiful. The restaurant, the rooms, the decorations, the garden, the pool, the food, everything is lovely. I think this was one of the best accomodations we’ve ever stayed at. The staff was also impecable, very helpful and professional. Great service during dinner.
The dining room staff was very nice and helpful. Good breakfast buffet. The location and view from the rooms are beautiful. There are a couple of restaurant options a walking distance away. The underground parking is a plus.
