This 5-star hotel is situated in a historic palace. Quinta das Lágrimas offers 3 room types: Palace Rooms once accommodated the Duke of Wellington and Garden Rooms overlook the botanical garden. What a beautiful property with a lovely pool area (I didn’t want to move from there the first day!). Good, varied breakfast and the restaurant for dinner was also very good. We stayed in a deluxe room which was generously proportioned with a good sized bathroom and a dressing area (which could have better lighting). Staff were pleasant, warm and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

The Alva Valley Hotel sits on the confluence of Alvoco and Alva rivers, in the quaint Ponte das Três Entradas. It is 10 km from Oliveira do Hospital and 24 km from Piódão. I chose the hotel because the hotels were full in Piodao. What a pleasant surprise! The drive from the hotel to Piodao is breathtaking. And the hotel itself is located in a small valley where we went for small walks, great for stretching the legs after driving for so long. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel had all the amenities one would expect of a modern hotel. Very clean room, and the breakfast was excellent with good variety. I loved the white cheese and marmalade!

Everything was just perfect! Everyone was very kind and welcoming. A very nice garden with a pool and nice view. Breakfast has great variety and quality. And the restaurant is one of the best I have dined in Portugal. We will be back for sure.
