Also joes garage below the hotel has takeaways/order online so as a solo traveller I didn’t have to walk the streets at night. Really great hotel, in a very handy location. Quirky but extremely well appointed and comfortable. Didnt get a chance to dine at the restaurant but it looked great also and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The biscuits to accompany a coffee were appreciated.

Waitara has some beautiful sea views and river.
Waitara has some beautiful sea views and river. It has a community feel to it. There are some sit down cafe places to eat and some take away food outlets a sushi shop and a New World supermarket. A great walkway along the river and a couple of canoeing clubs. An RSA there who cater for sitdown meals and a library with internet access available. There are recreational park and a couple of second hand clothing stores ie..salvation army store being one. It's super easy getting around too. If you go out further you can be in the main city of New Plymouth about 16 minute drive.
