Palm Motel Waihi, hotel in Waihi

Just 500 meters from the Hauraki Rail Trail and 1.4 km from the center of town, Palm Motel Waihi offers TV's with more than 50 satellite channels in each accommodation option.

Stayed as close to hauraki rail trail and bike was stolen, likely by another guest. Motel claims to have cameras but they only cover one part of the driveway and they wouldn't show me the footage.

Great central location with easy access to Waihi itself, and area's such as Whiritoa, Whanagamata, Paeroa within easy driving distance. Great Steak at The Sterling pub. When coming into Waihi from Paeroa on a nice day, suggest stopping somewhere along the Karangahake gorge for a walk. Beautiful on a sunny day.

You can't go wrong in Waihi with fish and chips at Kelly's ,Ti Tree cafe for coffee and brunch and a stay at Araluen House with host Julie. The rim walk at Martha mine has attractive planting and is worth doing.

We visited Martha's Mine and the Ole Pump House.

We visited Martha's Mine and the Ole Pump House. This is quite cook esp the "Poppy Fence". Apparently, the walk right round the mine is 5kms so have an extra hour for that. Supermarkets were easy to find, likewise the take-aways shops. Lovely small town place.

For me and my interest in family history & genealogy, mining and social history, Waihi is a great place to visit. Great German Bakery and had an excellent meal from Tandori Chambers. Had a wonderful trip on the train from Waihi to Waikino. People everywhere were so helpful and I will return again soon with my wife. I really enjoyed the Memorial to the WW1 tunnelers and the bronze sculptures in the town.

Couple were very friendly when we arrived..Even got a welcoming small bottle of milk from Richard for a coffee. Unit was clean, well spaced out. Renovations had obviously recently been done and made the kitchen and bathroom look lovely. Beds were comfy and warm all with electric blankets in the bedroom area and the one next to the kitchen. Wall heaters were in both areas as well to help keep us warm on what was a cold night indeed in Waihi. Will definitely visit again.

The tent itself is very lovely. Cute, with a basic outdoor kitchenette area (we didn't do anything except boil water for tea). Comfortable queen-sized bed with plenty of blankets if it's cool overnight. Composting toilet was clean and didn't smell at all. Enough solar power to charge a phone overnight. Easy 5-minute drive to the main street in Waihi town (narrow gravel road, but well-maintained) if you need groceries, takeaway meals, or coffee.

Great little place, quiet and set back from the road and surrounded by a lovely garden. It has just about everything you could need, we stayed 2 nights but it would definitely serve for longer stays as well. Good furnishings, well equipped kitchen, comfy bed, great shower. Easy check-in to get the keys, host sent clear instructions well in advance. We come to Waihi a few times a year and I would happily book this again.

Julie's cottage is absolutely gorgeous. It feels warm and welcoming from the minute you enter. The room was very comfortable and handed everything we needed. Julie was very helpful. And it was lovely catching up with her in the morning over a cup of coffee and getting a tour of the beautiful house. I'm sure we'll be visiting again when we are in Waihi. The perfect place to unwind.

Perfect roadside stopover. This is a return visit because we were very impressed on first stopover a few days ago. Large very well fitted out. Kitchen had full stove. Shower was hot and powerful. While this is an older design motel it has been reovated with taste. Scrupulously clean.Linens and towels high grade quality. Price was hard to beat
